So I've been on the look out for one of these for a month or two (if you look at my prevous posts you'll see I asked about one with 187,000 miles and if it would put you off) I didn't go for that one... but on Friday I bought this from leeds... I'll let the photos do the talking from here.

Few Pics of my 106 that will be sold as I don't need two cars.

Great car & colour combination - the Nogaro blue & white leather work really well together

Great looking car mate. Looked at one myself but couldn't find one with less than average mileage on. Atleast it shows they can do it.

Hello Dan,

Firstly I absolutely love your seats! They look amazing!

I am not on AudiSRS.com I'm presuming from you mentioning it you recommend it? is there a dedicated owners club or is that the best place to join?

Speaking of owners clubs I needed somewhere to ask about the mirrors, my glass is loose on the passenger side as the clips on the plastic backing are broken, I've seen some on ebay and i wondered if they would do the job

Hello Pete,

Thanks! I had the same seats as yours in my previous S4 (silver with that same leather interior, it had the carbon trim).

It took me ages to find an S4 in Nogaro blue with the blue Recaros, bigger wheels, coilovers, remap, better brakes, Bose, sunroof etc! I practically had to persuade someone to sell it!

Is yours standard? If it is, get over to MRC Tuning and get them to put a custom map on it. They've done mine (approx 330-340hp now), it makes a huge difference, it's really quite unbelievable!

Yeah, the owners club is good. It's not as busy as some owners clubs I've been on but they're a good bunch of people and very knowledgeable. Not sure about your mirror. I bought a replacement glass mirror for my sister's Hyundai Coupe and literally just the bit of glass arrived which was not good because it was the plastic bit behind the glass that was broken. I have a feeling you may be in the same situation if you buy this mirror glass. It will probably just be the piece of glass which glues to a plastic backing. Having said that, I've never taken the mirror apart on the S4 so I don't know really!

Yes it is standard. I don't think I'm in a position to get it upgraded as my insurance will increase massively. It would be something i would like to do in the future though.

Looks nice!

Im sure its a nice upgrade from the 106 in terms of straight line speed and 'build quality', although im sure you'll miss the chuckability of the 106 heh. (Everybody who upgrades from them says this at some point!)

Dare i ask how much the jump in insurance was between the two?

Bulletproof engine from whavt im aware of too, remap sounds like a plan when you can afford it! =]

Yea the insurance last year on the 106 was £1400 for 10months with admiral. (I was 20 at the time with 0 NCB and an accident) it runs out at the end of April so at the moment i've added the S4 to that policy for 30 days at a cost of £112.

I've had a quote for 12 months with Bell with a years no claims - which all being well will be at the end of April, for £1355 which considering I'm 21 I don't see as too expensive as its actually cheaper that the 106 was, having said that though I got a quote on the 106 for comparison and that would only be 900 this year.

Overall I'm pleased with the price considering my cirsumstances with the accident and low NCB.

Its funny you say that, it did have different ones on when I got it but water had managed to get behind them and the plate was all dirty looking if you know what I mean. These plates came with it and as you say they dont look the best, but better than the pervious ones so I switched them until I get round to sorting some new ones.

Falkster - insurance for my citroen AX is £900 a year , but that is left hand drive with 300 bhp. On a classic policy too :|

22 + 4 years NCB.

£1400 isnt 'that' bad for an S4 tbh, although for that i'd expect to have a few mods on the policy. If you are with HIC/Flux they are usually pretty reasonable for basic mods like wheels/remap etc but when you start going mad they whack the premiums up. Still cheaper than most though!

How you finding the fuel consumption in comparison to the 106?

Yeah, I may get it cheaper when I get the full policy but at worst its going to be 1400 - need to do some ringing around.

Fuel consumption is insane! I've only had it for the weekend but went to Sheffield in it on Saturday and I'm down to 21.4MPG average! I don't do loads of miles anyway so its not that much of an issue.

The 106 managed about 33-35 which I thought was pretty good. I'm going to play the game of seeing how high I can get it on a run tomorrow but I'm not hopeful of good figures, however I may suprise myself!

I am loving it the car at the moment! Its alot different to the 106 in alot of ways!

Falkster - Trust me, £1400 for someone of our age (21) is not a lot, especially on an S4. Without meaning to come across as rude, may I ask how old you are?

Jessop - It's BriC off RTOC. TopCAD (Pete) is my good friend. Small world, eh?

It really is a lot of car for the money, and will certainly scare a lot of more expensive cars. This certain car is a nice example as well. Refurbed wheels, and some new plates would finish it nicely. If it were mine, I think I'd get it sitting a little lower (not too low), and get a free flowing exhaust to release the burble of the twin turbo 2.7!

Not rude mate, Im 35 and I still complain about insurance.
I think I just missed the stupid insurance days as I had a Sapphire cosworth at 21 and that was £650 as far as I remember.

Aye, insurance has gone up a lot these days. But when you factor inflation in, I bet £650 14 years ago wasn't that far off £1400!
