Following on from a thread in the Caterham section about lack of pics... I though I'd share some pics of my Caterham. I bought the car in August last year and have been enjoying it since! Looking forward to some trackdays this year smile

I'd love one of these, they look so much fun!

smile

Yours looks lovely, too. Like the colour scheme with the stripes.

Don't worry, you'll get there one day, be it a Caterham or a Skyline...

Nice motor, sadly can't afford one right now.

Are the earplugs really needed for these due to a generated noise? Thought i'll ask...

I use mine daily and don't use ear plugs. I can be found to be talking a bit loud after a long run out in it though.

Yes, I do use ear defenders... been told by quite a few people that its best to do so or else you end up saying "what" a lot during conversations hehe

Just to let you know there is quite a young chap on here (20ish I think) who has a SLR and a chap I know who is 22 that has a classic. He bought it (the classic) as kit and paid on a monthly basis over a couple of years... although the insurance might be a bit difficult to come by for you youngsters smile

What sort of insurance group does that fit into then?

I'm now slightly tempted by similar

I may sound silly here and apologies if I do, but is that engine based on the Rover K Series engine?

Lovely car, I bet the noise alone makes you grin like the Cheshire cat after a cat-nip orgy with the local moggies. :-)

Hi Steve,
I'm not sure what insurance group these cars fall into (odd I know) however, the fact that they are not normal production cars and normally owned by enthusiasts and only insured on a limited mileage helps keep the premium down. For instance, my insurance for the civic (SD&P) is around £300 and for the Caterham its £550 (inc 3 trackdays).

Go on, give the usual suspects a call for a quote wink

Hi Benjamin,
Spot on! It is indeed based on a 1.8l Rover K-series engine and yes, the noise, the noise, the noise... the roar at 4000 rpm and the scream at 7000rpm, I'm sat here, grinning like a prat just writing that biggrin
