After getting rid of the clio sport i wanted something a little bit more special so for my 21st birthday i brought myself a Mk4 Golf R32.

Spec.

Delta headunit upgrade
Electric Sunroof
Self levaling xzenons
Full leather heated konig seats
and usual refinements

The sound is addictive and it feels like i have a hole in the petrol tank! but it is worth it.

Since i picked it up ive put black vw badges on changed the plates and had it machine polished. Also had the have a near side wheel bearing and top mounts changed. I also carried out the 'flapper mod' in the exhaust allowing it to run both pipes all the time making it sound alot raspier and deeper.

So this is it when i picked it up and machine polished it

Then came the snow. Bit of 4wd drifting! Was amazed how good it was in the snow

After changing plates and new badges

Will get some proper pics soon. Plans are for a wheel refurb in spring in hyper silver and a remap to smooth the power out and gain a few more horses, then maybe a non res miltek

Cheers

Jon

I had a ph1 172, amazing car be hard pushed to find a better handling car for that money.

My mate has a frs running about 280bhp. They are totaly different cars he was so impressed with the 4 wheel drive system on the R when he drove it. It is virtually impossible to get the wheels to spin! When i drove the RS it made me feel like i was in the clio again there a really raw and responsive car. But as much as i like that on a everday basis the crashy suspension on the clio like the RS made me want to change to something a little more confortable, like in winter with the heated seats on a cold morning. Also the build quality etc. The R isnt the best drivers car but its good enough for me and the noise it makes turns head everywhere even with a standard system, but you do need a petrol tanker following you around!

Looks good in black! Still prefer the MK4 to the MK5 although I've not had much experience of either it's purely based on looks biggrin

Sweet ride! That ST next to it is pretty epic too.
I always get that whole 'it must be daddy's money' with my car too, just have to ignore it!

Nice biggrin

I had one from new, got mine down to AmD and got a Stage 2 - it made the car 100 times better!

Milltek and a remap - do it.

Really like these smile Always wanted one, seem to hold their value better than most other cars too.

What sort of power gains can you expect from a cat-back and remap?

Good choice, have you joined the owners club yet? Good bunch of people and some amazing car on there (some supercharged / turbo'd R32s!)

Not much at all. Remap makes it a better drive but BHP gains are tough to get. Loads of people on R32OC talk about reaching 300BHP but it's pretty much impossible without a turbo. New cams, remap and exhaust might get you somewhere close to 280 BHP... maybe.

looking at getting about 275-280 from rempa and cat back. Remapping N/A cars doesnt really free up alot to be honest its around 10-12 bhp on these. But its done mainly to smooth out the power delivery as ive herd it makes a massive difference. Cams, gruppe M induction kit, cat back and remap and near 300 is reachable.

Yep - this is true. The original VW software was not great, and had dead spots all over the rev range. I took mine back twice for software updates and it still wasnt right. The AmD remap sorted this, and the noise of the Milltek......... biggrin
