Well, after having experienced cars from Fiat, Ford and Renault - I made a decision that my next motor would be from The Fatherland.

Also, having finally obtained 4 years NCD, insurance was starting to become reasonable, and my annual mileage had reduced - so I decided that my next car, aside from being German would also have a big, nice sounding engine...

...so here she is (or being German is it a he scratchchin) - It's a '99 E46 328i SE:

I can honestly now see why people rave about German cars - particularly based on my car experience (albeit limted). Loving the RWD driving

Looking good - comfortable cabin, luxuriously smooth 6pot engine.

Same. Nice car, the sort of thing I'm aiming for at 21, all being well. Good luck with it.

Nice motor, and that engine is simply sublime.

Personally i would have gone for an E36 328i Sport, but each to their own.

RWD is a totally different driving experience so I'm just taking it easy for the time being, I don't fancy parking it in a hedge just yet, haha. And yep, I've just turned 21 actually and was nicely suprised at how much my insurance dropped!

I initially wanted to go for an E36 328i Sport but couldn't get on with the IMO, rather dated interior. I know the E46 interior isn't exactly modern, but I think it's still a cut above most cars that are on sale today.

Also, with regard to the handling - the fact that the car is RWD is good enough for me so having the Sport suspension would have been nice but not a necessity, bearing in mind I've come from a FWD Fiat Stilo diesel which, although a decent car, had a suspension made of jelly. So even in SE spec it's much more taut than what I'm used to!

nice car, surely something can be done about the orange indicators though to modernise it a bit? later spec lights perhaps?

and the wheels, get rid of those wheels.

+1, and the steering wheel could do with been swapped for a newer one! Other than that I like it, good car for someone of your age, and it has lots of potential for improvement.

Yep, I'm not really into modding but have a list of things to do:

1. De-tango it.
2. Put on a set of the 18" M-Sport wheels off the later model E46's.
3. Proper BMW car mats lol biggrin

But that's as far as it goes I'm afraid. The leather steering wheel is soooo much better than the horrible plastic one the Fiat had so for the time being it'll be staying on.
