Ahh, the old capri. The original versions seemed pretty cool looking back now. I guess it helps that retro is 'in' now. Also remember when my Dad bought a new 2.8i laser in black. Had those 'pepper pot' alloys, which I loved as a ten year old boy back then. It's a shame they inevetably slid into the hands of boy racers and finished their lives disgracfully covered in bolt-on's. The last impression of the capri left on most peoples minds won't be good after that.
I read in AutoCar a few months ago that there is a company somewhere that will find you a tidy Capri, strip it down, replace the suspension with coil & dampers all round, fit decent brakes, race seats, roll cage, fire extinguisher, and a nice 5.7 litre American V8 giving you a cheap track day car in the region of £5k.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Nice.
