Hi everyone! I have been lurking on the site for a while, and now that I have a new car I thought it was time to finally sign up. So hello!

I'm only 22 so my car history is somewhat modest, but here goes...

My first car was a Morris Minor, but I didn't keep it very long. It was fun to drive but wasn't fast and was a pain on long journeys. So I got this instead:

It is a 1972 BMW 2000 Touring. I kept the car completely original, including removing the BBS alloy wheels, and ran it for a couple of years. It really was a fantastic age. The two litre was revvy and it could keep up with modern traffic and even beat chavvy corsas, which was fun! But unfortunately it suffered from rust and was pretty thirsty as well, so I sold it.

I was looking for an E30 touring, but came across this and had to have it:

It is a 1990 318is with only 72000 miles on the clock and a full BMW service history bar the last two services. I only drove it for the first time on Wednesday but I have already fallen in love with it. The revvy M42 is like new and absolutely loves to be pushed to the redline. The interior and exterior are also like new with only a number of small blemishes.

Given its condition I will be keeping it as close to standard as possible. I will upgrade the 14" BBS to either 15" BBS or 16" Hartge wheels, possibly lower it slightly and that will be it.

I have no proper photos of it at the moment, but will post some up soon.

Here is a final photo after the snow last night!

I look forward to your comments!

Wow! two very nice cars!

Were you insured on a classic policy for the touring and how much was it at 17? redface

Most classic policies don't cover drivers under 21 unfortunately. I had this when I was 19, but still too young for most. Think I went with RAC Insurance in the end. Don't remember the exact amount but it was cheaper than I expected. Fuel consumption was the killer though. It averaged low 20s around town and spirited country driving and about 30 on a long run!

Very cool list of cars you've had there. The e30 sounds like it was a right find given it's mileage and history.

Nice E30, and welcome from a fellow E30 owner, who is also keeping it standard. Not many of us left mate, so don't make that suspension drop too severe wink

Wish I had got a white one now, every time I see them they look great. If I were you I wouldn't lower it, they have quite a nice stance as standard. I think the 15 inch BBS's are a good shout, here's mine with them, and standard ride height-

Great cars, and from my looks in the classifieds over the last year, creeping up in value too!

Hi JayPee, would I be right in saying you live around the corner from malvern terrace?

Noticed the PH sticker on the BM. Looks nice. I'll give you a wave if I see you about. Look out for someone in a black golf cabrio waving like a loon!

It was top money at £2950. But it is in top condition and the prices of the iS models is on the up, so a good buy I think. smile

Just a quick update. After a long time spent waiting I have finally got a set of Hartge alloy wheels for my car. They have come back from being refurbished by Lepsons and look stunning. I also bought a new set of (ridiculously expensive!) centre caps as well. The low light doesn't show the shine very well, but they did a fantastic job of colour matching the wheels and centre caps.

I am hoping to get tyres fitted at the weekend and will post photos of them on the car soon. Can't wait! biggrin

Yeah I'm on E30 Zone as well. I thought it was top money at the time, and it definitely was a strong price, but looking at the price of 318ISs for sale now I still think it was a good buy for such a clean, low mileage car.
