Thought i'd post up the latest project, it's not the most sensible of purchases given the current weather... but it's fun to say the least smile

It's a 1990 Skyline R32 GT-R recently imported, albeit as an ex drag car from Japan.

Very weird car in the sense that it's running 700bhp, OS gearset/triple plate clutch, Nismo 2-way LSDs but at the same time a full interior, Rapanese-spec 'ICE' and the likes of aircon.

Anyways, will update the thread as the build progresses for anyone interested. Basic idea is to 'modernise' it somewhat, fit a turbo with less lag, decent brakes, update the interior and so forth. Exterior wise it'll be staying stock bar a few carbon replacements smile

Video showing the 'nice wide powerband' haha:

Haha tell me about it! Mass overkill, it currently has:

2x boost gauges (not sure why it needs two for one turbo)
Oil pressure (plus standard oil pressure guage)
Oil temperature
Water temperature
Shift light
Oil temperature (another digital gauge!)
exhaust temperature
boost controller
turbo timer
pressure sensor (wastegate control?!)
switchable fuel map

and then a system called a 'With Pro Start' which i have absolutely no idea what it does.

A nice Stack digital dash wouldn't go amiss smile

Nice car biggrin Loving the turbo lag rofl That's the sort of lag likely to throw you off the road mid corner when it suddenly decides it wants to spool up hehe

That looks great, I've always loved the R32 GTR, especially after watching Initial D. That turbolag is insane though, makes all that power pretty pointless in the real world!

Also, on another note I remember you from back in the days of Digimods. It's amazing how things have moved on, I didn't even have a car back then, you had your Civic and now you're in an R32. Not still working for Max Power are you?

Christ those were the days! I'm still over on max, just over 5 1/2 years now and had an RX7 prior to the Skyline smile

The power is completely ridiculous, the irony being that with their literally being no boost until 4500rpm it's an absolute doddle to drive (albeit stop start with the clutch haha!)

Driving back from Devon i averaged just under 30mpg over 190 miles of 70-80mph motorway, my ears however have tinnitus!

With regards to the 'Pro Start', had a play and turns out it's a form of Launch control biggrin A bit like the 'Bee-R' rev limiter where you set the RPM limit and how vicious it cuts the ignition as opposed to fuel, but unlike the Bee-R once you launch it doesn't continue to limit through the gears.

Video soon to follow smile

The turbo has so much lag you need to call it up in advance...hence it having its own mobile phone

Get something like a Gt30R on there and it will be a great weapon for the road smile

LOL! Do you need to fax the turbo to request boost? That's bananas!

Is that James' (pictonroad) Rex in your photobucket or just a coincidence?

Quick update! Thought i'd make the most of 4WD and locking differentials in all this snow - who said drag cars can't be practical?! Drives like a dream! The snow even means the wheels don't 'skip' at low speed... albeit spin instead haha.

Anyways, thought i'd take a few photos before it all disappeared.

Sleeper88/Stormrider2: Both correct! The civic started life polar white, went through a few changes and eventually ended up with it in BMW Kalihari beige with ridiculous camber, was running 15x8in SSR wheels with a 0 offset, just about fitted haha!

The RX7, kept it for a year, loved every minute but i wanted something faster and i couldn't justify to myself spending the cash to get it to even 400bhp. Plus there's too many great cars in the world i need to own at some point smile

Dr G - Nah we had similar looking Rex's thought, both absolutely decked on monster green wheels!

Oh also i forgot to add, we had a lovely letter come through from our Neighbours last week:

Needless to say, took 100% notice of it, so now the car gets 5 minutes to warm up instead of a couple biggrin

Also forgot to add, after discovering the launch control/rev limiter, i think i need it disconnecting to stop being a prick:

Not the best way of treating the engine tbh. It's a perennial topic and the bottom line is warm up under load (ie drive it).
