Picked this up this morning. Engine doesn't run, brakes don't work, no interior and needs prepping up on the inside.

Once the Mr2 is finished i'll be getting wired into this one. Kit off, trim off, complete treatment inside and underside, some paint, a new interior and then deciding which engine to fit.

I have a K20A sitting which i might fit with a standalone etc, or for an easier time i might just go for a GTi-6 engine with a view to S/C or TB at a later date.

It already has GTi6 front brakes, 1.9 rear beam with new discs and pads and bilstein suspension all round.

Used to have an Mi16 about 5 years ago and i'm still in love with them just as much as i was back then. cloud9

Can't wait to get it on the road.

197bhp, 9k revs and weighs not a lot.

GTi6 is torquier low down i think and a more simple install.

Decisions, decisions.

Wiring the GTi-6 engine is a pain in the ass, but if you know your stuff it should be ok. Ditch the 1.9 rear beam and go for the 1.6 drums. They might not look as good but the braking is much better.

Should be a good project.

Good luck with it all fella, great cars once you have it how you want, you can buy the wiring looms already made for you if you need a 205 to gti6.

Done my 205 begiing of the year-

I'm willing to bet wiring up the GTi6 will be easier than wiring the 1MZ into the Mr2. laugh

With the K20 it'll need :

- Custom welded driveshafts, civic inner, pug outer.
- Standalone, DTA or similar
- Custom engine mounts and gearbox mounts
- Lots of trial fitting and measuring
- Modified exhaust manifolds and downpipes (?)

The GTi6 will need :

- Attached to a VTS box and dropped in
- Modified exhaust manifold
- Wired up

Any of you know if the standard GTi6 ECU can manage any boost at all? Say 4/5 PSi?

Either way it'll be fully detailed and hopefully look on a par with Carl's miami up there biggrin

What makes you say that chief? I had GTi6's on the front of my old 205Mi16 and drums on the back and i felt it was a bit out of balance.

Does the upgrade front and back not make for a better distribution of braking force?

The 1.9 disc axle often failed to do much of the braking (common on 205's) whilst the drum set up was more reliable and didnt suffer from heat issues. The 1.9 rear discs are only good for 1 hot use, after that they are cooked and pretty weak. You will know what i mean when on the track. And also the drums are much better for handbraking on hairpins.

Also, the standard GTi-6 fronts are awesome if you use race fluid. No need for expensive 4 pots - like i found out. They were better than both the Comp B's and the Brembos. And cheaper on discs and pads too.

Sure it would be a lot of work, but i would try and go K20 just for the incredible honda gearboxes let alone engine! Shift quality and ratios are in a different league to any peugeot box.

K20 needs a HGF Elise home really (plus it would be worthwhile financially to do that) - for the pug, a GTI6 engine would be perfect imo.

There's a good chance i'll be following the Mr2 up with an Elise early next year, i think i'll be keeping this one for a while though.

If you want a VTEC could you use one out an S2000 with 240 BHP?

Pretty sure they had a supercharged GTI-6 in PPC mag which was running the standard ECU and making a lot of power.

In a word no. The F20 out the S2000 was designed really just for that car, hence why Elise people still use the K20 rather than the F20.

They spin in opposite directions IIRC. If i were using an F20 it would be inline RWD as it was intended, but then it'd not be in a 205. smile

Took the rear bumper and valance off today and got a good look at the rust on the rear, will be easy to fix and treat so just need to get the side skirts off and the petrol tank out and it's decision time!
