Here are a few pics of my 205 GTi. I have fitted the vehicle with a 2.0 16v engine taken from a 306 gti6 and it is now used for trackdays (although with the weather being so poor i doubt it will see anymore use this year).
Anyway enough talking here are some pics:-
The front suspension set-up consists of Gaz Gold coilovers (adjustabe height, bound & rebound) 300lb 8" springs, 309 GTi ARB, lower arms & driveshafts, polybushes throughout. 306 Gti6 Hubs, calipers and discs, Ferodo DS3000 pads, braided brake lines throughout the car.
Also i have eccentric top mounts to adjust castor and camber, I also drilled the strut top and strut brace to allow a 5 bolt fitting:
Interior shots shwoing cut away dashboard, cabling, cut off switch, brake pipes:
Lightened doors (angle grinder lol):
Polycarb windows (front, back & rear screen) with sliders:
Sparco seats and Sabelt 4 point harnesses:
The engine. I stripped this and rebuilt it to standard spec, so no modifications as of yet, maybe 170bhp+ i hope. Also fitted is a 5 speed 1.6GTi gearbox with a quife lsd, rose jointed gear linkages, solid engine mounts, mocal oil cooler, and probably more i'v forgotten.
Front bumper modified to increase airflow as i have dropped the radiator down a few inches to position the oil cooler. I'v also fitted twin fans and modified the fan shroud:
The brackets i used on the lower front panel to drop the rad:
Fuel filter from 306 GTi6 fitted in to O/S inner wing:
Fibre glass bonnet, its a bit flimsy hence the pin at the front:
Fibre glass battery box fitted behind passenger seat:
My spare set of wheels fitted with my wets:
And here is a vid of its first time on track:

Thanks for looking. All comments, criticsisms and questions welcome.

No, this is snapWhite GTi6 205
Good effort DiscoStu, did you do all the conversion work yourself? Can i ask how much difference you found with the 309 wishbones? Do they give you enough neg camber?
I'm a big fan of Cherry Red so long as it's not faded, although for some odd reason Laser Green is by far and away my favourite 205 colour. (not sure why I bought a white one then!)

My Red one was BMW red, managed to avoid fading too.
Thanks for all the positive comments guys
ecain - that looks great. Can i ask what modifications have been done to achieve the 240bhp? From what i'v read i was led to believe 220bhp was pretty much the most available on the stabdard inlet (which you still appear to be using in your pics). I'm not questionning your claim, but genuinly interested to know how you have achieved this as i will be looking to build another engine soon to replace the current standard spec. My previous 205 was 231bhp (in my avatar over there <<<<) but that was a 2.0 turbo and i found it difficult to use on track as it was just too much torque to put through the front wheels. How does yours drive?
Mr. Chips - That looks awfully similar lol. As for the 309 bottom arms, i never drove the car with the standard arms so i cant give an honest comparison. All my previous 205's have run standard setup, but i'v never had such fancy suspension or an lsd before so it would be unfair to compare. As far as camber goes, with the eccentric top mounts i would say a fair amount of negative camber is possible with the arms.

The mods were:
Ported, polished and rebored inlet(enlarged internal chambers). Cost a fortune to do it but the results were good. The standard inlet is better than TB's. Custom cams from a 306 BTCC car, massive head work inc lighwieght pistons and rods. Crank ground and reprofiled. Ceramic flywheel (uber expensive), Viper induction, custom internally polished 4-2-1 manifold, no cat and OMP straight through exhaust. To get over the loss of back pressure form having no cats or silencer we had to adapt and manufacture spring loaded valves for the manifold.
Oh, and we were using cosworth grey injectors to supply the extra juice.
As for the driving experience. I sold it a year after building it, but it was great fun and very reliable. Traction was fine with the quaiffe and power was progressive. I even drove it from plymouth to bournemouth at weekends so was my commuter too. The only down side to it was the noise in the cabin, i had to use ear defenders. And the heat from the engine made it uncomfortable in the summer. The guy who bought it from me wrapped it at Knockhill, writing it off after only 4 laps - on his first drive too. Thats £2k a lap. Ouch!!

Its been a long long time since i last updated this thread.
The car has gradually been coming together and growing in spec as time has gone on. I decided I would get it road legal and use it as a weekend toy over the summer (plus it means I dont have to trailor it to the track) Today i took it out for a drive seeing as the sun was out, and snapped these pics along the way.
I hope you like, all comments welcome:-

Thanks
The front ride height is still under constant tweaking, along with the bound/rebound, cambor and castor. I'm still trying to find a setting that works well for me. The rear beam is a standard item that underwent a complete overhaul (new bearings, beam inserts, machined beam tube, etc) I may be looking to upgrade the torsions bars and ARB sometime in the future, but for now i'm happy with it.
Hopefully I will get a new fuel system sorted this month, but we'll se how tight money is as I have a few track days booked

They're not red their luminous orange lol
I thought they look quite funky, not really to interested in being subtle as its a track car. Talking of which I took the car to Castle Combe this month for Classic & Retro sports car day where it performed very well.
I'm still getting used to it at the moment and tweaking the suspension and seating position. Anyhow, here are a few pics:
And a vid (2 parts). Unfortunatly they're not particularly interesting as my friend decided to film me... and pretty much nothing else lol
