Hey guys,

Long time lurker first time poster

Finally bought a classic for fun. It was a bargain due to needing a little work and having a short mot.

Mot should be sorted by wednesday.

Its a 1999
Impreza Turbo
Facelift model
129k with FSH
Totally standard bar a magnex catback system

I previously owned a 2001 WRX Bugeye and this drives just aswell. It feels a little smaller inside but I think its lower roof wise rather than anything else.

It does feel like it pulls much harder, which is nice smile
Handling is very tight and it sounds great

Great price!!! That's a whole lot of car for the money!!!

My dad had a 1994 Turbo 2000 and it was brilliant fun to drive.

I had one of these a couple of years ago, it was great fun on a decent road. It's worth getting a remap after a while as the gain in power is very noticable, but obviously they're very quick anyway!

That's the best colour IMO, and the foglight blanks look good too. What a bargain thumbup

DjSki, where in Manchester are you!?!

We're in Altrincham and had no trouble with our 2000 and the only bother we get with the WRX is nobheads trying to race us. laugh

Its funny you should mention a remap.

On paper it should be slower than my old bugeye wrx which a mates drives but driving them back to back its much faster. Boosts harder and pulls miles better.

I have a sneaking suspicion it is mapped.

Ill drag the ecu out and have a swatch.

Could just be the difference between the td04 turbo used in uk cars and the td05 turbo in imports and i think later cars? the td04 spools much quicker and down lower over tdo5 which has more punch later on i believe but if I am wrong someone will correct me.

Thinking about it if it has a cat-back exhaust fitted then I'd be suprised if it hasn't been mapped... Happy days!

Thats a bargain at the price - I'm tempted to look for one now its winter, mmmm....

I went from a '97 wagon to an '01 bugeye and had both for a week - the classic was definately faster, and it was completely standard even down the 15" wheeels. The consensus on Scoobynet back then was that standard classics generally put out anything up to 230bhp according to rolling roads while the bugeye was a lot heavier and also seemed to average much closer to its published 215bhp.

If it's mapped, even better smile

Ah that's harsh, hope you weren't injured or anything. The main cars for it round here seem to be Audi's, 2 TT's went off someones drive about 6 months ago after they'd kicked the front door through. Needless to say that house driveway now has gates that Fort Knox would be proud of.

Nice one on the MOT Frazzly!!! smile
