Hi all,

a few weeks ago I got my BBS RC's recoated in a powdercoat finish to make them look like the OEM ball burnished items which look brilliant but sadly all corroded and were replaced by wheels with a different finish under warranty.

I'm very pleased with the finish of these - I used Aerocoat Ltd, and it was only £225 inc courier to get them done.

Cheers,

Agar

Thanks Chris,

the company's website is: http://www.aerocoat.net/

I dealt with Adam Young there who was very helpful indeed.

I'm not usually a fan of Golfs but that is rather nice.

What's it like to drive?

I think its a really good driver all round for a daily-driver. It has a 6-speed gearbox which pulls from 30mph quite easily making for a lazy drive if need be. Once up on boost from 2000rpm the power delivery is pretty much constant, before tailing off after 6000rpm. The brakes are good and the car handles well with minimal understeer. I'll be honest though and say the steering could have some more feedback as it does feel numb at times. Road noise is noticable with the wheels but not excessive. Its not massively fast but is more than up to the job for commuting. My mate has one also and prefers it to his old Stage 3 Escort Cos.

I've got a test drive in the new Mk6 GTI this week so it'll be an interesting comparison exercise.

Thanks,
Agar

I assume it's a 1.8T? I have a standard 1.8T GTI, it's not particularly sporty to drive but it is solid.

I do love Annis, especially in red. I'd have one tomorrow if they didn't command such a massive premium for what is basically a Golf GTi with BBS alloys and some nicer seats.

Can't say I agree about the understeer... I used to have an Anni TDI and although the iron lump is heavier, that car had the most understeer happy chassis I have ever driven. Great on smooth sweeping roads but when you try to press on it just goes on in a straight line.

Is it me going mad or are your splitters a slightly different shade to the body?

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Yes, it has a 1.8T engine but the turbo and map are different resulting in a power output of 180bhp. With regards to the understeering, I can only base my opinion on other cars i've driven compared to this one - perhaps tyres have an effect on it too.

The valences are the same colour as the rest of the car.....
