Hi everyone, i've been reading the forums for little over a year now but in that time i haven't owned anything i considered interesting enough to post up in this section until now. I've recently sold my last car, a MK5 golf SDI which did it's job brilliantly but was also the slowest car i have ever been in!
I needed to replace it with something of equal size or bigger and after thinking about various Audi, vw , seats and BMW's I stumbled accross this. I had never thought about a skoda before but when i compared the car with a same year/spec golf the price was too good to miss!
I spotted the car on ebay and decided to drive to darlington (from hull) to view it. When i got there the car was mint in every way and i couldn't let it go.
I handed the cash over right away and made my journey home. I'm loving every minute of it so far and am so glad i got 'over' the badge. I don't think i could have got a better car for just over £3000!
The cars an 02 with fSH (mainly skoda)80,000miles, recent cambelt and waterpump, four new tyres and immaculate interior. I'm well chuffed!
The colour is Black magic pearl which i'm lead to believe was an optional colour???

Must say that is one fine looking car you got there, and for about £3000 sounds like a bargain

congrats

That is a bargain!

When I was looking for one about a year ago I couldnt find any worth looking at below 4.5k!

Can't usually be bothered to post in this section but that's a really nice car smile All the colours work very well and looks in pretty good nick (at least from the pics) for the price.

seriously, it's mint inside and out. No kerbing to any wheels, no dents or scrapes anywhere. The inside is as new too. I think the lady i bought it off either under priced it for a quick sale or truly didn't know it's true worth. I've had it hpi'd and i've tried to find fault but have found nothing. I think i've just struck lucky with this one!

Top work. Subtle performance bargain of the week award winner in my book!

Always wanted to get an estate version, debadge it, put it on steel wheels with a selection of plastic hubcaps and one missing, tweak the boost and break people's hearts at traffic lights.

With one as mint as that I'd leave it as is and enjoy it.

It gets very odd reactions on the motorway, people overtake me, but at exactly 70mph until they look across and realise i'm not an undercover police car.

The Octavia is similar in size to a Bora, right? Not as big as the Superb which is Passat sized?

Nice car, btw!

I have been looking for one of these for a while but am unsure whether I could swap from the Golf to one. It would make sense I need a more sensible run about for work. You don't want to swap your newly acquired VRS for a nice Mk2 GTi do you wink

Lovely. I had a red '51 plate for over 3 years and always regret selling it. Fast, classy and discrete with a truly massive boot!

I had mine breathed on by Star Performance in Kircaldy (uprated FPR, re-circ DV and remap) to give 215bhp / 240lb/ft without any degredation to economy or comfort. Great performance although for some reason mine always suffered bad axel tramp under hard acceleration from standstill(?).

very nice, I very nearly brought one of those a few years ago when the same year car was the thick end of £12k

that is a lot of car for £3k, do you have any plans to get it re-mapped?

Had thought about a remap, i have a friend that works for MRC Tuning who said he could sort me out a custom remap. He said we should see 215bhp on a totally stock car. I can't justify the cash at the minute though. 180bhp is okay for me at the minute, my old Golf only had 75bhp!

Looks excellent mate. Always been a fan of the Octavia. As someone else said, i always fancied a sleeper estate too.

Only thing that put me off the VRs was the light coloured carpet and seat inserts.

I know what you mean spaceship, i have a 2 year old so i'm guessing i'm going to have to invest in plenty upholestry cleaner! The carpets are lovely and bright still though as they have the VRS overmats in place.

Great car mate! I have one the same in black magic, had it 3 years now and has been a great allrounder, added a few mods along the way, koni dampers, h&r springs, rear arb, strut braces, polybushed wishbones and other things. Had a revo stage1 remap earlier this year really makes a difference, but if your thinking about a remap i would recommend sorting the handling out first, make sure you always run it on super unleaded something like vpower 99ron have fun and enjoy!!!

Any reason for using only 99ron? I have used a tank full of 99 already but was forced to use normal for this fill up.
Would that be a leon cupra splitter you've got on the fron of yours?
