Right then, a new start hehe

Not much of a story to this one I'm afraid, but a good ending which is always nice

This year I've been exposed to the world of biking, had a few cars on the side, but my primary transport ended up as a CBR600 which I loved to bits until it broke......story of my life boxedin

Since then, I've been plodding up and down the M1 on a regular basis in a 97 Vecturd estate which, in fairness isn't that bad, but it was a joint buy between myself and the old man so I needed something to call my own.

I gets a phone call from me old mucker Stu R who tells me that his mate Barry has a Volvo S40 for sale...not a huge fan of the S40, but I decided to go look anyway as I was planning on buying to either sell on or use as a swap/trade against a Pug 306D Turbo.

Anyway, I bought it and brought it home and to my amazement, I actually like it.

Primarily because it's in damn near mint condition, runs well, plenty of MOT and low miles, FSH and does a great line in quiet wafting hehe

Best thing was the insurance came through at a good price so I've decided to keep it...and here she is

1997
79k miles
FSH
Taxed until end of nov
MOT June 3rd 2010
New bottom arms and balljoints
Newish tyres
Clean inside and out
Drives lovely

What did it cost me?????????

That's the theory biggrin

It's pigst slow with the little renault 1.8 buzzing around under the hood, but it's averaging 34mpg and apparently will do 400 miles on a tank of pure town driving so I can't argue at that!

Good stuff.
There's no point spending so little on a car if it's going to cost you a fortune to run.

Get some grey bumper dye (do a search on the 'bay) and that'll look like new. Can't argue for 2 ton.

Aren't these mainly Mondeo underneath anyway? If so it's got a good start at being a decent steer.

Nice little run around, great price.

You should find that some cheapo olive oil will restore the plastic bits nicely.

Actually I don't think so, they were I believe produced at the Nedcar factory in Holland, a JV with Mitsubishi, and share a platform with the Charisma. Which is probably no bad thing if motorway miles are the norm!

Stunning value for the price and it looks like it's in great nick - even a nice colour! Bangernomics at its finest!

From memory I think that Renault only supplied the diesels. The P
petrols are all Volvo (except for the mitsubishi gdi), just the 5 cylinder with one chopped off the end.
They are slow, but don't handle too badly, especially for £200!

That's the badger:

Charisma chassis, Renault engine, Vulva body and bits

Not what I would call an inspiring mix, but it's quite a nice little motor and hopefully should do me proud for a few years

I love bangernomics
