Well I needed something to fill the gap the Ford capri left so bought a Twin Turbo Legacy on eBay last week when I was training in Birmingham.

Off to pick it up today so it's all good.

The plans, well, unsure. It needs a respray ideally, Girlfriend wants it 02c Subaru World Rally Blue but I think a wee bit of white or pillarbox red will look good.

Engine has an oil leak so that's where I'm starting. Possibly could see a 2.5 short motor replacing the 2.0ltr for now, maybe new turbos and remap...

As i'm 18 theres no way in hell of insuring it anytime soon so i'm thinking track car - then it's a transmission swap as it's /urrently an auto.. thats not a problem though. Handy being a Subaru mechanic!

Keep you all posted anyway and might try to get a picture of it tonight once she's home. 600 miles to get a 500 quid Subaru, i'm mad biggrin

Dude that's just a tidier version of this.

Get it running for less than a grand total and enter the competition next year.

Nice find! I assume you know those engines are prone to blowing big end bearings though? Synthetic Oil FTW!

Yeah, work with them 6 days a week so seen and heard all the horror stories. Think i can see a 2.5 short motor going in if i'm honest.

Sounds like a plan, I drove a Legacy GT-b, iirc it had about 280 bhp and Bilstein shocks, for a week or so and it was great fun. Did the big end bearing for a mate while he was off-island and then "ran it in" smile

Oooh lovely. The pics make it look great!

So weird seeing the alterantor on the top of the block. A friend told me the destinctive scooby noise is more to do with the exhaust header lengths than the engine; true?

I thought it was more to do with the firing order?

Yeah header length is mostly to do with the noise, unequal and equal length; equal length will return the Flat 4 to a slightly more normal tone, unequal length is what gives you the "burble" smile

Really need to get out there and fire the turbos off but its -1 and i have just put on some bacon rolls haha.

2.5 will prob break the gearbox, biggest restriction you have is the turbos, and replacing both for bigger items is a pain.

Convert to single turbo is the way to go.

Just probably aslwell dropping an STi longblock in instead of what's in it now...

So many thoughts just really need to decide what spec I want to take it to, it's definitely going to be stripped as use as a track car anyway.
