Hi,

I read this forum quite a lot, never got round to posting though, so here's the car's I've owned and what I'm driving now.

Bought this when I was 16 and I modified it slightly, when I passed my test drove it around for a month then sold it, I miss the car the most as the power was immense, it was a 1997 Polo 1.4 16V.

I then sold that and moved on to this Polo:

This was a 1.4 TDI with full Votex body kit and 17" Audi TT Competition alloys. I drove this around for 6 months and then sold it, I was looking to get a MK4 Golf but ended up getting another 1.4 TDI Polo:

This car was a CAT-D write off. Engine was flooded so I replaced the engine and made sure it was mechanically sound. I then put on some 16" Lenso BSX's, installed my sound system and then I put smoothed bumpers on it. I then drove around in this for 10 months and I sold it two weeks ago, looked like this when I sold it:

I then picked this up a week after selling the Polo:

It's a 2002 Audi A3 1.6 SE with full leather, 36,000 miles, 1 owner from new. I am unsure whether to mod it or not, but if I do, I will put on HID's, the Audi S3 kit on it, and Audi TT Competition alloys/BBS LM's and lower it.

What do you guys think?

Sharif

Personally i'd leave the A3 alone, and save up to get a real S3.

I think this looks brilliant:

those 1.4 16v polo's are pretty brisk for a 1.4! Mate bought one a while ago, had a massive rant about how nippy it was to jeers and piss taking from the rest of us, the little thing flew!!

Thanks mate. I am in two minds of modding the A3 or not, as its such a nice car standard I don't want to do anything, but a set of BBS LM's and lowering would set it off. I'd be a long way away from an S3 due to insurance and I probably wont be able to afford one for a while.

Nice collection of VAG cars.

Why the downgrade in performance though? Surely Polo 1.4 16v > Polo 1.4 TDI > A3 1.6 ?

Thanks mate. I downgraded from the valver to the 1.4 TDI, as I couldn't afford to run the valver, I just started working and wasn't getting paid a lot. But as I am working more now I can afford to run the A3. The A3 has 102 bhp, the Polo had 100 bhp, but the Polo felt quicker as its lighter.

I think I'm going to leave the A3 as standard, run about in it for until im 21, and see how much insurance is on a Honda S2000/ Evo 8/9.

I'd take a couple of brave pills before getting an insurance quote for an Evo. My Dad had the 'baby' 260 and in his mid-40's, great post code, company owner, average miles it was £700 I think. Bearing in mind this is the UK model, not an import like other evos. Just something to bear in mind smile

Really like the Audi, the best of your cars yet I'd say.

Thanks mate, the Audi is tidy in regards to mileage, how it drives etc but the body isn't in the best of nick. Looking around on quotes for a re-spray as it needs a bit of paint, thinking of changing it to grey/kingfisher blue.

Yeah I would like to get an S2000/Evo at 21 but I can't see insurance being happy about that. It really depends on what job I get, as I am hoping to work for a car dealer, so the traders insurance could be on my side!

First time I've heard a 1.4 engined Polo described as having 'immense power' laugh

That was my first thought, I must say the cars in the pic are quite restrained though , tastefully done

To be fair, the 100bhp 1.4 6N Polos are very nippy. Quite a healthy ammount of power given the light weight of the car.

I had a polo 16v before my current CTR, it was a very nippy and well made car, I certainly would not have sold it for a Polo TDI though!

Lol the power was immense to me, but now I have got behind the wheel of a 400 brake Evo 8, that statement is no longer valid lol, but the valvers are very quick for a 1.4.

I downgraded from the valver to the tdi as I couldn't afford to run it, but If I had the chance to buy it back, I would seeming I'm working a lot more than when I first started!
