Just put a deposit down on this to join the stable as a commuter hack / long distance cruiser, its the 2.2 DI (pre Renault) engine which is supposedly reliable. Tax/Insurance is dirt cheap on it too, which is nice.

I can't find a lot of information about them on the 'net, as most of the information relates to the later 2.2 DCI Renault derived engine, which would appear to be pretty unreliable if Interweb reports are to be believed. I'm hoping this one should be reliable at the expense of refinement/power of the later model TD engine.

Loads of equipment on board too, and all for £2.5k. Bargain?

Thanks. I think the dash will take some getting used to, especially the placement of the dials.

It has massive spec - DVD Sat Nav, reversing camera, climate, traction, lots of electric things and the stereo sounds pretty good too. The combination of the 2.2 DI engine and 6 speed 'box should equal good economy on a run too!

I nearly bought one of these, you can run them on used/new veg oil with say 20% diesel in the summer, 50% winter. You did the right thing avoiding the Ren engine.

Can you? I'd be interested in investigating that. Where did you find the information? I'm finding it very difficult to track down details about this engine. Most of the stuff on the internet relates to the Renault dCi engine from 53 plate onwards, or people tend to get confused between the two as they are both 2.2 diesels.

Is it the same as the 2.2 DTi engine used in the Almeira around 2001, but with a slightly higher output (126hp v 108hp).
