Thought i would take the xr2 out for a final long run before storing her for the winter.
Gave her a good wash and couple of coats of collinite.

A rare beast!

My MK1 was that colour and for some strange reason it's the only car I miss.

I keep looking on ebay for a cheap MK1 to drop a 2.0 Zetec into.

Wow how is that still in such good condition?
Can't remember the last time I saw one of those on the road.

That has to be the cleanest MK2 XR2 I have seen. Im currently looking for one and they are indeed rare and its difficult to find one with decent body work. My search continues and that car makes me want one even more.

Wow - what a blast from the past! That looks immaculate - a really nice looking car. I haven't seen one in a good while, can't be many around now I suppose?

How fast can she go?

Also is she regularly used or just a project / show car?

Lovely condition XR2... no rust even on the front panel underneath the lights - notorious for rusting there!

I have had 2 XR2's in my 'car life' a Mk 1 in blue and a white Mk 2. Loved them both, but if i had to choose it would be my little Mk 1...such a cool car.

Enjoy your XR smile

It's funny really, when I passed my test I had a Peugeot *cough* 309 */cough* and so anything with a blue oval was my mortal enemy and to be despised. This was quite a long time ago now and I really do have a soft spot for old XR2's and XR3's.

That really is a stunning looking little motor, have you shown it at the Bromely Pageant? I remember seeing (and I'm sure I have piccies) of a red XR2 a few years ago.

Very nice cool

Can't remember the last time I saw one, let alone one that looked this good. Mine will have rusted away many years ago I'm sure.

Not sure Paul, it's a maybe at the moment. If we're not in the car I'll probably still pop up and say hi.

Damn! That's when i sold it. The guy who bought it was a bit of a plum - probably smashed it.
Shame, i loved that car. I fitted a K&N filter & Peco exhaust... she went quite nicely smile
