Bought the golf for a bargain price.
this is how she looked when i first got here from scotland, 14 hour round trip, (well worth it) but i couldn't drive at the time, so my mates helped me out.

and after a spruce up.

coilovers, dropped it about 80mm, i was looking for ronal LS wheels and was planning to get some on finance from rimstyle.com, when i posted a message on a VW forum and got a reply! got them for 350 quid with practically brand new nankang 195/45's on on, not a scratch on them, lucky find i tell thee!

also added some pressed plates, and then a detail, (www.elitedetail.co.uk, anybody interested, check it out, professional detailing, Dodo Juice Authorized Detailer)

so this is how she looks now, 3 months on.

and 3 days Post detail at the Midlands Breakfast Club.

Next on the bill, is exhaust, and bit's to the engine, as and when i can afford it.

moneypit...

Thanks for Looking!

Brilliant looking Mk2, I had a Mk2 Driver for a couple of years and loved it. Never got round to owning a GTI which was a shame, but I thought they were great cars. Those wheels give it a much better look and I like the colour too.

Did you get it from Dumfries? One of my childhood best friends dad used to work at the VW dealer in Dumfries and i remember going in a brand new MK2 gti. I thought it was so cool and obsessed about them as a kid, will never forget when my mum and dad came home with a red one (G636 BSW i think, if anyone ever see's it, i'd buy it back)

Is it a driver or GTI? If it's a GTI 8v or 16v?
Looks very nice either way.

Driver, but shhhhh. only passed my test 3 months ago
insurance would have killed me on a GTi, but it will be converted soon enough, so not to worry!
i bought it like this.

in answer to your question. plates are from www.dubmeister.co.uk fully UK road legal, and are stamped. they do other fonts and surrounds so much up for choice, but i felt safest with these, may purchase sum german style show plates aswel for shows, but im not up for getting pulled just driving around because the 5-0 have got nothing better to do with ther time like catching real criminals.

Cool, still looks very nice.
Wasn't sure whether you'd de spoilered the rear of a gti of had gti kit on a driver.
To be honest I wouldn't change a thing when you can insure a bigger engine except the brakes!!! G60 brakes and 16v master cylinder!

If the insurance was steep on a Mk2 Gti, how much do you think it will be on a modified one with a more powerful engine in?

Ill give you a clue - more.

Or will it be one of these, 'its still a driver' on the logbook jobs?
