Hi i had a lotus Elise S1 in scandal green everyone knows me as Rene from yorkshire as i sometimes organise runs from excape at castleford , well got rid of Elise as it was just too slow and i have bought this..........

this really is very well set up and mega fast and im in love with it!! i didnt think a bike engined car could be so quick it has a yamaha R1 engine with sequential paddleshift, willwood 4pot calipers so it goes and stops really well!!

will be organising a run to malton on October 18th for anyone who fancies tagging along!!!

Rene

Had my first ride in a seven on Saturday, and have fell in love with the things. This looks amazing.
I work in Castleford, and drive around the area quite a bit. I hope to see this in action soon! smile

Firstly I am glad that I'm not the only one who thinks elises are slow, my various experiences have left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed.

Can I ask how you find driving the MNR on the road? There are so many conflicting opinions on whether BECs are suitable for road-use and it would be refreshing to hear something objective as I have been toying with the idea of one for a long time. Is it useable? I appreciate that most of the power comes at higher revs so does that make it difficult in town or traffic? Also, what's the clutch-action like?

Thing about any 7esk kitcar is the proximity of your but to the ground. I found even doing 40 felt fast!. And the way they handle is a dream so responsive I remember just driving around a business park with a mate on a Sunday evening at no more than 30 seeing how quickly it would go around a mini round about. Any car that you can have that much fun in at such slow speeds is very enjoyable.

Have fun.

Would be good to hear how your enjoying the bike engine. I hear they can be diffiult to live with on a daily basis. However a new engine for under £200 I could live with that!.

Looks very nice.
My m8 has built 3 MK Indys, all BEC.
They are awesome toys, twisty roads is where they are at there best.
Very low geared, top out at circa 130mph at circa 13,000rpm.
But the accelaration, sequential gearchange and clutchless upshifts are excellent fun biggrin
This one was a early R1 engine on carbs:

£200??????
You need to budget nearer £2000 for a modern R1 engine with low miles.

hi everyone thanks for the replies!!

To be truthful i was a bit negative when my friend said i really should have a go in a Bec as it would suit me as thought theres no way that a Bec would have much torque or be driveable or be as good as the Elise as i really loved mine!

HOW WRONG WAS I!!!! lol! im telling any doubters that my Bec as im sure others are too is incredible in every way! at first the clutch was a bit hard to get used to but after driving it an hour or so im fine with it!! as for no reverse i have steep driveway and its that light i just push it up this driveway no probs at all!! and never been stuck!! yes it isnt as practical as my Elise as its a nice day plaything but im telling you now it really does make the Elise i had feel like a slow cumbersome bag of spanners that gets no-where near it on performance, handling, and just general excitement! and the torque issue well mine hasnt got one as it accelerates in 6th like it does in 2nd!!!or feels like it!! put it this way i came off a roundabout to a long straight that went from 2 lanes into 1 and a focus St mkII (06 ish) put his foot down to get away! i was in 2nd gear and it was like i passed him doing 40mph and he was stood still! it really has suprised me and i have driven ferrari 360`s etc!!!!so as you can tell im smitten! it really feels as quick as the bike i used to own and it really doest feel like it should be allowed on the road! i just sit there and giggle to myself when i put my foot down!!
Be great to see everyone who came last time on the malton run again so come on get yer fingers out!!!
