Spotted this for sale recently, had one of these when I was 18 a couple of years ago and thought this was too nice not to be bought!

Car is completely standard, comes with cruise, heated seats, 4WS, eleccy everything.

VTI VTEC H22A8 200bhp Redtop
2000 W Reg
70k miles

Bought for a bargainous sum of £1700. Runs smooth as silk, quiet, refined, no knocks or rattles, but goes like the clappers when you want it too. Great noise as well over 5k revs.

Its going to be used a weekend fun toy and will be taken to "the ring" next year.

Think it might be my next car.

Have you found any good sites for information on the differnt models?
How old are you and how much is insurance; if you don't mind my asking?

Cheers

As for websites, the best place to ask questions is at Preludeuk.co.uk.

Or just ask me, I know a fair bit about these and all the models they do. Feel free to PM me or ask on here.

Insurance at age 22 is £600 fully comp.

Looks really nice that, the only thing I can find wrong with it is the wood! Please change the fake wood in the interior!

Have always loved these Preludes, but never got round to actually owning one. Could be tempted for a 3rd car at some point, so I'll be sure to email you for some advice! smile

Is the 4WS active or passive? Does it have hydraulic actuators or is it just built into the geometry?

Looks great...until you get to the beige cloth, but that is sortable.
Apart from that, spot on for the money.

That is an absolute bargain! Looks to be in very very good condition as well, although I agree about the cloth seats, cream leather would be nicer! Love the colour as well.

My mum has a 2000 Sport Auto (same year as yours), it's sooooooo unbelieveably slow but with 100k on the clock and a full Honda service history it literally just goes on and on, she hasn't had 1 problem in 3 years of owning it! Build quality wise as well I just cannot fault it, my 30k, 2 year old Astra is starting to squeak/rattle in places, her Honda is absolutely silent! The only thing I can't seem to get right in it is the driving position, no matter what I do it just doesnt feel quite right, I would make do for the VTi version though!

I've recently been keeping an eye on fun sub £2k motors to get back on the "car ladder". I need something cheapish, reliable, fun and comfortable over a long drive (everywhere else is a long drive when you live in the South West.

So far the list had all sorts on it from GTV, Fiat Coupe and Pumas to BMW diesel barges. There's an amazing array of stuff out there in this price bracket and SOTW has been a particularly dangerous thread for me recently.

These Preludes are apppealing more and more to me now though, especially in this newer shape. I've got a wedding to go to in Hertfordshire next weekend and I'd much rather be crusing up the M5/M4 in this than a 1.2 Clio!

Very nice indeed sir, very jealous!

Whats reliablity like with all the electric gismos? All working? What kind of mileage do you get out of it? Comfy over a long drive?

cheers miniman.

Everything works, got a few toys like cruise control, heated seats, heated mirrors, eleccy sunroof etc and its all 100%.

I run it on super unleaded, and recently got 340 miles from £48 of fuel, so not too bad really. And thats town/city driving! Considering its performance, thats pretty good.

Take your time to find a good one, there are a lot of very average examples about. I was lucky enough to find one which was maintained regardless of cost (for example, last owners had all four discs and pads done as well as a full service @ main dealer Honda, bill for £700!) And this was 2 months before I picked it up.
