(part two hehe)
sold for a few quid to another PH'er earlier in the year, this Corrado is now back in my possesion.
Having spend a few quid on it, making things work, i was relieved to see, i came back in much worse state than it left hehe
joking aside, i purchased it for a whole £300, including MOT until April, and 2 months Tax.
Included in the sale, was a knackered wheel bearing, and 2 smashed lights.
on the way home the 1.8 16v 140k engine managed 40mpg!
plans include the purchase of these various panels this weekend:
Bonnet, 2x bumpers, 2x non broken light, a central locking pump and a wheel bearing.
should tidy the old girl up no end

What a heap of censoredwink

I got bored of the scraping on speedbumps!

ETA: You missed out the leaking master cylinder and mysterious puddle of water in the footwell.

That'll be the sunroof leaking. I had one of these, in the same colour, it cost me a fking fortune in repairs!

Nice one Batty, Looks cool with the BBS wheels.

I'm sure i read the puddle has something to do with the heating system?

Drop me a message if you need any bits, My mate is breaking two of these.

heater matrix can go, and often the bypass valve, but im sure it was the interior fan housing in this instance.
picking up a load of parts this weekend, but you can never have enough!!!

was actually a bit peeved in spending £300, it cost me £0 the first time around hehe

Good buy at £300 but i still HATE Corrados with a passion

Had one in 2003 and it was the biggest pile of turd ever and it has put me off for life

Good luck with the repairs

to be honest if you thought it was a bag of turd it was probably cause you bought the wrong one. they cne feel odd if now set up right, but with a bit of work the chassis are excellent and are very capable.

nice buy, cant believe how cheap they are these days, i was mugged haha!

Have progressed through various motors to my Porsche 997, but my old Corrado was still one of my favorites, looking for a cheap one to run through the winter! Driving postion is great!

I don't know what's all the wieging's about?

I had my VR6 between 92K and 115K and all i replaced was the brake lines and that was a result of me changing the ride height.

A man after my own heart. After reading jurno after jurno creaming their pants about them I got a very dark blue 16v corrado in the autumn of 98, and it did not live upto VW build quality! with bit after bit braking and an intermitent stalling problem that never got fixed I sold it in the spring of 99 and bought a Peugeot 205 1.9 CTi which I still have over 10 years later!

When nothing was broken and it wasn't stalling it was a very nice car to drive but I've owned other very nice cars that drive well and don't break so I'm affraid the IMO the Corrado is turd! To date it is the most disapponting car I've owned or was that the mini copper s works convertible.

The chassis is no more capable than a mk3 Golf, the fact that they were set up with 2 degrees more negative camber than a Golf at the front from the factory did not contribute to a better chassis than the Golf stable mate

If i were being honest the VR6 Corrado wasnt as good in my experience as the Golf VR6 merely an overpriced and not as pretty in comparison to the Golf

Mmmm, afraid I have to disagree there.

I had a Highline VR6 at the same time as I had a Storm VR6 years back, and the Corrado was a far better drive - by some margin. The Golf was a good car, but felt bus like compared to the Corrado. Both cars where mint and the Golf had been dropped - otherwise both standard.

I was lucky to have both, as both were excellent examples - but every morning when I went out to work, I would always get in the Corrado.

Each to their ow, but Corrado not as pretty as a Golf?

Sorry for the hijack OP! biggrin

+1 love the 997 but have very fond memories of my Corrado. It handled beautifully and was much nicer than its period equivalents such as the calibra et al. Future classic the VR6.
