Here are some pictures of my other little toy. The name tweety will become obvious in pictures to come.
Since buying it I haven't had much time to spend with it but I have many plans which I hope to start playing with in coming months, and hopefully can get it back onto the road and start having some fun this winter.

next to the fiesta you can appreciate just how big it really is

Ye thats the one! Immense fun!!
Ah thats ashame, wouldn't want to get out and have to walk through it, its pretty deep. I did it a number of times. I know nothing about off-roading yet so each time I aimed to hit the water as fast as i could get it which was about 40 mph. At which point its like doing an emergency stop. One time a few people stood on the bridge to watch, which I'm sure they quickly regretted as you can see from the height the water goes!

I am ashamed to say we went out hunting for 'deep water' during some severe floods, when I had a company car (early 90's).
The motor made it through several rivers and one of our high speed impacts ripped the number plate clean off! We then ventured into some flooded country roads and passed a Shogun going the other way.The guy stopped and told us we had no chance getting through, as even he had turned back.Red rag to a bull.Off we went and to cut a long story short, the water was coming up through the handbrake when we broke down and we climbed out the sunroof and lept to one of the banks.

After a while, I lept back to the car and managed to turn over the earlier dead engine and simply lurched it out of the water by turning the key with it in gear (it still wouldn't start at this point). An hour or so later, it started and seemed to be driving ok! Later that night, however, on the way to a late night meeting at the 24 hour Farthing Corner cafe, the engine exploded, all the lights came up on the dash, the motorway behind vanished in the smoke and when the AA man arrived, he looked under the car, shone his torch, reemerged and said "that's fked mate".

Best to do it in 4x4's I think wink

Yea I agree it is rather lacking in the lighting department...
I'm on the case through, me and my mate are starting on a custom front end at the weekend which will encorporate plenty of lighting.
Once that's done I can continue with it's Audi TT dashboard tongue out

As an ex-Land Rover owner (Defender and Discovery) and ex-Discovery Owners Club Press & Publicity Officer, not to be a kill joy but be careful driving through water that fast for two reasons, firstly it can force water past seals in to places you don't want water to go and result in massive repair bills! Secondly, as much fun as water wading and splashing is, you will always find kill joys somewhere who will be quick to complain like buggery against 'off road' drivers which does no favours when trying to preserve the miles of byways etc for motorised vehicle use (granted that isn't 'off road' but that doesn't stop people complaining resulting in 4X4's getting a bad name!)

Looks like you have the makings of a great Disco there, I do miss my Landy's, but not having to repair them!

Thats strange i took my old pug 206 through with no problems, admittedly it was after a period where it had not really rained in 3 weeks and at the end of summer

My old pug 205 and VW polo estate thing also used to do it no probs. In fact, I am sure those things would have driven under water! The astra SR I used to knock about in, though, would die even if you hit a decent sized puddle at speed.I remember someone telling me it was quite common on early astras.Water just got into something it was not supposed to, a bit too easily.

Anyway, loving the look of the Disco mate.My neighbour was doing a bit of off roading a while ago.He just purchased cheap little 4x4's and went and had some fun and I must admit, I was tempted to do the same.I had the old works land rover doing things which did not seem possible several years ago.At one point, due to the size of the gradient, the thing was jumping all four wheels off the ground as it tried to grip and get up it.Great fun those things driving

Well I bought it from peterborough in april this year and only used it that one day because its my "project" and only took it to Eynsford because of the ford. since april its been living on my driveway so I can tinker with it. As for me I have been to Eynsford a fair few times and me and my mate like the Lion pub there and also gives us a chance to let ourselves loose on the lanes down that way but that would be in the Jag which is pretty recognizable due to its individuality lol?
