Since taking ownership of this car its been through a lot, but its been great!

A little louder than the average jag

Upgraded brakes when they finally had enough

The car was vandalized with brake fluid, which was repaired at which point they came back and poured it all over every single panel on the car

So changed the wheels and next came this

It was maybe a good thing the car was covered in brake fluid because that Jag looks far better. Nothing like a stealthy big black Jag. Love it!

That is rather menacing - love it! Who paint strippered the car - crazy ex, local 'hardman' you upset, or just a random chav attack? Could have been an old flat-capped, driving-gloved 'proper' Jaguar driver who didn't think you were the right sort to own a car like that.biggrin

Saw you at cheddar gorge!

Extremely loud - a bit out of place on a luxury saloon, I must say! boxedin

I have no idea who vandalized it, but they did my car and my sisters car and her other car at the time. The satin black was a "make do" originally but now its all black and I did the wheels I really like it so I'm going to spend some time finishing it.

And who doesn't love the sound of a throaty V8 :P, its always especially amusing when people turn round and cant understand at first where all the noise is coming from. Im hoping to have it quite a bit louder in the coming months. I got 113db...but would love to beat the 126 by the others.

Love the car but not the plate.

Sorry.

Any more pics of it in SR-71 mode?

Thought you were some local mafia boss when you first appeared cruising up and down the gorge smile

After a few passes though I decided I quite liked the "murdered out" (pistonheads words, not mine) look.

I'm not actually sure Cheddar has a local mafia. But if they did I'm sure they'd all drive matt black XJs.

Was good to meet you Rob and love the menacing look of the XJ. It has a certain character - a bit like "The Equalizer gone a bit nutty" biggrin

Was tempted to do that to my 540 but have patched up the rusty bits instead with a view to respray "one day".

Looks awesome in matt black, but I think I would add the side strips on again. It breaks up the side of the car a bit and for some reason makes the car look lower/longer; also a touch of chrome along the side wouldn't look out of place IMO.

Hmm yes arden do a nice pin stripe with they signiture at one end but then it wouldnt follow this complete black look, also it naturally has a line in the bodywork just below where the pinstripe was which was outcasted when the pinstripe was there....

Next on the list is to fit custom projectors for the HID's, tint the headlights black like the rear lights.
And its soon to be a lot lower...I have an air suspension system ready to go in as soon as I buy the bags.

I did like the look of it when I saw it at the Gorge but sadly I didn't get the opportunity to get any pictures. Are you going on the Swindon or Bristol Tunnel run because I would like to get a few pictures assuming it doesn't get attacked again the bds.

i like your car, looks great in black.
makes me soooo angry when some bd does something to someones car.
sounds like someone had something against you or a family member.
i left my elise at tescos for 5 mins a few months ago and when i came back, some bd had left a nice spittle on the roof. i would have ripped his head off if i'd seen him do it. no-where as bad as what happened to yours but just completly outta order.

anyway,looks great now,black and mean.smokin

ye they did it to that front part of bonnet, all over my sisters new TT and down the side of her fiesta...
i fixed mine and they came back that same night and did almost every panel again so thats when i thought id go with this look until i catch them. I didnt want to spend thousands on a new paint job due to value of car and the fact i want something else next year. But that satin black suits it really well, and once i finish it the finish should be pretty reasonable....its annoying not to have caught them but then just got to see the bright side of it and im really liking it all blacked out, much more aggressive

The best part about it being satin black is to repair if they came back I'd only have to get out another can lol, and it doesnt bother me so much anymore, I'd drive it out even if it shedded its paint haha.
I'm not sure about the bristol tunnel run yet because I'm low on money and its a lot of petrol to get there and back because I live near london. But I do find it hard to turn down a tunnel because I love the sound of my car lol, so I'll see what I can do :P
