Bought this off Ebay a couple of days ago. I needed a car to run around in and wanted something useable and a bit different.

There are a few minor issues to sort out; the NSR slave cylinder is leaking, the rev counter always reads low and the heater valve is not working properly, I will fix these over the next few days.

So far I have enjoyed driving it, difficult not to with the sound it makes!

Oh yes I am liking that - lovely !

I confess to an embarrassing lack of technical knowledge of these beasts though - can you supply any stats please ?

thumbup Very nice.

My dad had an auto one of these a few years ago; in gay pride purple.

Nice looking car and sounded lovely (Triumph V8 smile ).

Dare I say it but it did love a head gasket or two or three or.........

One thing I always thought that let it down though; is the wheels. I know they are 'period', but are just too skinny and the body shape suits wider rims (period looking split rims are nice wink ).

Just ignore my wheel comments, I'm only jealous and six years younger than your car therefore part of the wide wheel generation and have no taste

Thanks for your replies!

The the Stag has a 3.0 V8, of some notoriety, it puts of 145bhp and 170lb/ft of torque, sucking it's fuel in through two Stromberg carburettors. It has a four speed manual gearbox with overdrive on gears three and four, the overdrive is operated by a switch on the top of the gearstick.

Considering the car is now 35 years old, it is doing a good job of coping with modern traffic. It is quick enough to be fun, and the ride and handling are easy to get on with once you accept the limitations imposed by the car's age.

It is great when the sun is up and the roof down!

Nice way to burble about with a V8 soundtrack. But very, very old for today's roads.

Don't forget to look after that cooling system...
