To be fair the only thing french about the car is the central locking which keeps surrendering. And as i keep telling people its not a proper french car as it was built in Italy.

Plus the Peugeot V6 is rather good. If you're having central locking problems it might be worth having a look at the door looms, not sure about the 406 but on some Peugeot's they made the looms to short so some wires have a tendancy to chaff and break

i love it to bits, also its probably the best car i could afford to run as im only 20 and the insurance is crippling. I am wanting to move up into tvr ownership soon though.

And then the insurance will be the least of your worries when it comes to crippling your bank balance.

For £500, I don't think you could do much better. Wish I could have run a v6 when I was 20.

its actually not too bad to run, when im behaving myself i can get 25mpg and i do a lot of motorway miles which helps as it seems that this car was built for cruising long distances. The only really expensive side to this car parts as a lot were bespoke, a good example is the exhaust system as it is cheaper to buy a custom made one than a standard from peugeot.

Nearly bought one 4 or 5 years ago but got an Alfa instead. The Pug V6 is very nice smile

I beg to differ, I've done 2k in my TVR recently, it was pretty cheap to buy for what it is, and I've spent £60 on a new accessory belt, and a few bolts for the power steering pump, hardly crippling...

Nice 406, I've always like the look, but I've had my barge days with the E46, now I'm 22 I can insure a substantial V8 in a light car, I intend to keep it that way, as frankly it is utterly brilliant. Bargain cars are a good way to get something flash a little sooner than you might otherwise, keep at it!
