Hi Chaps, I've just bought an MPS 6 and it came with a Pistonheads sticker in the back window from the first owner so I thought I'd better join up!

Anyway, here's the car with apologies for my lack of photographic talent and for using a camera phone:

The car has 14,000 miles on it and is absolutely like new condition and I intend to keep it that way. I've owned a few nice cars over the years but am currently working all over country so needed something that was subtle, fast and refined. I'm extremely impressed with the Mazda which is taught handling, yet smooth-riding and equally at home on a B road blast as it is on the motorway. The engine has super mid-range overtaking urge and has so far returned 28mpg on runs and 24 round town which I'm quite happy with. You can even stick the tail out easily with the DSC turned off! biggrin

Cheers.

Don't think so - it's a turbo-intercooled 2.3 four cylinder and 4WD with an RX8 rear axle with LSD.

Yep, caulkhead here! smile

Sadly I only get back here odd weekends as work is mainly on the North Island.

When I first seen the MPS on Top Gear I didn't like them, but they have since grown on me. Very nice car. I could be wrong but I think it uses a modified version of the Mondeo chassis?

Errr, to be honest I'd no idea so I've had a look round t'internet and it would seem they don't. The 6 uses the Mazda GG platform which Ford then borrowed and built things like the (US) Ford Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr and Mercury Milan on it, but not the Mondeo which originally used the CDW27 platform and the mk3 Mondeo that was out when the Mazda 6 was introduced used a CDW27 variant called CD132, but not the Mazda GG platform. I think. smile

Photo's taken at the top of Culver Down if I'm not mistaken?

There must be a constant queue of cars there waiting to be photographed! hehe

Yep - they'll start charging soon! I thought of lots of nice places to take the pics but I only live two miles from Culver and I was feeling lazy. . . . . . . smile

Very underrated cars a mate of mine has a tuned 6mps it just about kill's any scooby or evo. As far as I know it shares very little with the mondeo, in any respect they just grip and grip. PLEASE NOTE do not put larger wheels on it known of a few cases with non std wheels on it kills the diffs

I'd noticed on the US Mazdaspeed forum that the people who've had driveline problems also had huge wheels/tyres and had 'rolled the fenders' to stop them rubbing. Think I'll keep it as it is as putting big rubber on will also no doubt remove the adjustability mid-corner that I'm starting to enjoy. The only pointless bit of the car is the DSC - it drives so much better with it turned off. . . . smile

I had one of these as my demonstrator when I was at Mazda and absolutely loved it. If memory serves the colour is Moist Silver (sniggers!)

Your memory serves you well! I dread buying my first touch-up kit for it frankly. scratchchin

Here you go, please ignore the fact that it needs a vac as I'm a lazy toad!

Standard spec includes HIDs, climate, electric sunroof, leather with electric memory seats, Bose stereo with 20gig hard drive recorder and a honking great rear strut brace that means even though you can actually fold the rear seats, after you have there are only small gaps to put loads through! smile

I have a feeling I might be a nerd!
Could be worse at least you didn't get Velocity Red and it's 3 stage paint, which is whole panel and blend to fix chips and scratches properly.
