Hello,

Thought (against my better judgement) I'd post some pictures up if my car! I was given a Rover 416i with a few months tax and mot on it, picked it up and it was a hound, very rotten and the mot was due in 5 days... So I scrapped it, £50 for nothing though so can't whinge!

Anyway, I had a look around on the internet and found that these Rovers were somewhat unloved and as a result cheap, so found a local one, went to see it, and picked it up with 9 months mot (no tax!) for pocket change money!

Here is how she was:

She (Maude) looks in good nick in the pictures, but these don't show the rust and bits of spraying previously done (by Stevie Wonder I believe...). Thought I'd mask off some bits and keep 'em shiny too, why not?!

I purchased myself some Satin Red paint from Fascinating Finishes and set about rubbing down, sorting out the rusty bits, and then give her a going over with a roller - easy I thought...
Not the case!

The masking tape ripped the lacquer off the bonnet, so I re-did that this weekend, and painted the silver bits satin black:

Also painted the headlight covers which were in the boot, think it looks quite cool, but not sure which colour:

Beaded seat covers for a touch more luxury if thats even possible, haha:

Loads more to do including lots of rubbing down (never rollering again!), its just a bit of a fun project to do whilst I've got my brothers garage!

Errm no!

It's a cheap car so I figured I'd have some fun with it. My last car was a standard Mk1 Golf Gti Campaign Edition which was in lovely condition which I sold to move up to London, I am in London for a couple more months so need something I'm not too assed about hence this car, and the paintjob - nice and easy to touch up!

Bangernomics makes sense to me at the moment - would love my golf back but the beauty of having a car I don't car too much about and have some fun with is great!

Haha, slightly more than that but for a car with 9 months mot, a new alternator, starter motor, cambelt, fsh, and a fresh service I thought it was a good price...

Beggars can't be choosers, and it will keep me amused long enough to save for something nice again wink

Nope, the only performance enhancing add-ons to the car are the beaded seat covers and the Elvis Presley face silohette sticker.

Too much power.

Now you've camouflaged it you need to scrap the lowering plans, lift it, and whack some tractor tyres on it to annoy the green party.
