Manta GT/E Exclusive
Discussion
I'm feeling all nostalgic so just thought I'd post some pics of my old Manta GT/E Exclusive. I sold it about three years ago and have regretted it ever since. It really was as clean as it looks having covered approx 60k from new. It had a Blydenstein stage 4 head, Bilsteins and 400 Mirrors. Apart from that it was all standard.

Stunning!
Beautiful car, looks great in white- I had an GT/E Exclusive in (Monza??) Blue many years ago.
I also had a Monza Blue GT/E Exclusive but it was nowhere near as clean as the white one.Beautiful car, looks great in white- I had an GT/E Exclusive in (Monza??) Blue many years ago.
Both Mantas are now in Ireland. The white Exclusive has had a non-sunroof skin fitted and a 2.0 XE.

Always liked the sunroof's handle & operation, pull Handle & slide back- much better than a winding mechanism.
I toyed with fitting an XE to mine, but decided to cut my losses & buy a MK III Fiesta Sport.
What a Tit.

Lovely GTE coupe that
Seeing this takes me back to when i had this:
Had to sell up after it needed serious amounts of welding to the rails and passenger footwell, though the driver's side was solid.... after i'd been at it and cut out all the rust and welded in new sheet. What did it in the end was shot front brakes and a badly knocking engine which i couldn't afford to get fixed.
However.... i still have this stored away hopefully.. after university i'll get cracking on getting it all roadworthy... as a trackday car
Classic cars and a real hoot to drive!

HAHAHAHA at the "other half doing some work gag" that was classic!
As for the Manta its great, i wouldnt mind getting my hands on one with a XE conversion.
when i was at primary school one of the teachers had a white manta GTE and i remember looking at it in the same way i would a ferrari/Zonda or other truely exotic car these days, they really do have something special about them. At the same time another teacher had a capri and that just didnt appeal in the slightest compared to the GTE.

That brings back memory's! Manta's really entered into my subconscious due to a school trip to the Isle of Mann. The trip coincided with the 87 Manx national, were we spectated a stage.
This is one of my few remaining pics from that trip, the car is actually an an ex Jimmy McRae motor, obviously it would look better in AC Delco colours!
Anyway I toyed with the idea of buying a Manta on a few occasions but normally something else would catch my eye. Then one day I crashed my pride and joy (an Alfa 164) being skint and car less I needed wheels and needed them in a hurry. I ended up buying this...
Not bad for £300! Looking back I just wished I had hung onto it, it was a great little car, that just needed some TLC.

Nice to see the OH do some work aswell....Good jobI used to love these cars as a kid. I seem to remember there being 3 models available in the mid 80's...
- GT/E
- Berlinetta
- ....
What was the other one?

In 85 I had a brand new GT/E Hatch in red as my company car 7K on the road B686YMP. God was it quick! It would indicate 125MPH on the speedo & used to go up & down the M4 in the early hours at high speed as I was on call for a customer in the city.
I did 44K in the year & we chopped it as it had become unreliable, it had had one head gasket & was probably due another when it went. People were falling over themselves to buy it though & we didn't lose a lot on it.

I owned 2 Berlinettas in my youth both were hatchback but I would have loved the booted car more.
I remember going with a friend and window cleanig the premises that the Andrews heat for hire cars were kept in and just knowing how awesome htey were.
Had the chance to go to the Retro show @ Stoneleigh park this year and what a sight to see these very Mantas doing the biz on the tarmac 'stage'.
