Hi everyone

Long time reader here, finally decided to make a post.

At 22 i never thought i'd get excited over a Volvo, let alone purchase one.

I've had my C30 a few days now and could not be happier with my decision of this over an A3 s-line.

It's certainly generating a lot of looks/interest everywhere i've taken it:

Very nice, but can I ask how you find the brakes on the C30? We had a test drive in one before buying the Civic and we found the brakes to be very under servo'd.

Thanks Catherine, initially when i picked the car up from the dealers i was a little concerned by this too. As the brakes were not at all as i remembered the car i test drove to have. In fact i got a rather unpleasant shock at just how long it took to stop at some lights and how close i got to the rear of the car in front.

After a couple of hours driving though they wore in just fine and are perfect now.

Nice looking car but someone appears to have put some rather nasty looking yellow Shields on the wings.

Respect the chav!

Look at them more closely I think it's a slight urine extraction of the Ferrari badge.

Very nice car I had a Volvo 850 T5 as my 1st car and was actually a very good car too those 5 cylinder engines make a very nice burble.

Not normally a fan of Volvos, but that does look smart! I didn't know they did a T5.

I "think" it's the same engine as in the Ford Focus ST.

I found the pedal to be quite sloppy, if I didn't know any better I'd have bled the brakes.

Well done for chosing something individual. The design, performance and looks are all fantastic and at 22, you're a lucky lad!

The Volvo 5-cyclinder lumps are great. I had the diesel variant in an S40 for a few months and grew to love it in most ways.

Tell us, does your C30 have strut braces? The D5 R-Design did and cornered much flatter than my Golf 170tdi.

How is the T5 on acceleration?

Yes, the car I drove was a 2.0D. The performance of the car was surprisingly good for only circa 135 bhp, but and it was a big but I had concerns that the brakes were not up to the job. I remember doing an emergancy stop on a quiet long stretch of country road and it took far too long to stop. Mind you the Honda Civic we bought instead is better but not much. My company Astra which overall is a cr&p car has brakes which are very sharp.

Very nice mate! Strongly considered one myself when they first came out. In the end I couldn't justify the thousands extra a T5 SE sport/r-design cost over a ST, but everytime I see a nice C30 (rare!) I want one again!

ps I love the prancing moose!

I have done a few thousand miles in a C30 1.6 with sports suspension and thought the stopping power was as good as it needs to be. It was just the pedal that was a bit iffy - felt like it had air in the system and if it wasn't for the fact it was brand new I would have changed the fluid. Like all things though you get use to it.

I think this really looks the part, if the badges were a bit lower down the wings I think it might improve it a bit, and if the car was lowered it would look perfect.(OK I know im a barry)

Really nice car.

I saw one of these in a film recently (Which shall remain nameless for reasons of pisstaking (It was the missus idea)) But I did think at the time it looked quite nice. Like the guy above said, it could do with being a bit closer to terra firma but the best volvo in a long time IMHO.
