(Another) new car...
Discussion
The Rangie is expensive to run at 10-12 mpg around town, and there are bits and pieces that need attention on a car of that age. My car cost me £700 to buy, but has just cost me £576 in engine work and it still needs another part at £135 to finish 100%.
I guess that my best advice is to buy the best you can afford, and then 'shake it down' for a month at home before travelling too far. Mine had been used mostly around town during its life and the first time I took it on a M Way it lost it's water and I had to await recovery. Now the work has been done I trust it more now than ever, but I know I will spend plenty more on it in the future.
However, I absolutely love it and will use it tonight over the 944 to get home (mainly because it has working A/C)

I paid £3400 for it, with FSH (belt done 20K ago), 11 months MOT, 5 months tax and it has just had a lube service and front discs and pads too.
No rust to speak of, tyres have 5k left in them and all the electrics work. It could do with some tidying here and there, but overall it's in very (very) good shape for a 20 year old car
