Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of my latest buy. She's pretty heavily modified and pumping out 250+ bhp and weighing around 900kg at the min.

Spending the next few weeks sorting a few things then looking forward to getting her out on the track!

Cheers guys,

Looks excellent! What kind of mods (other than the obvious ones) have you done? Did it require very deep pockets? Always though an MX5 would be a perfect track project.

Spec wise the car has the following bits done.

Gt2876r turbo currently running at 9psi, ojz engineering manifold with custom exhaust, rc750cc injectors and tunnertoys fuel rail, high pressure fuel pump, engine internals are all uprated ie flyin miata valve springs, retainers, pistons etc, 300mm 4pot brakes, lsd, Arc cage, intercooler, oil cooler, gaz coilovers, hydra ems ecu, etb intruments digi dash, elite transmisions gearset, 300lbft paddle clutch, flyin miata roll bars, rose jointed drop links etc. It's had a lot more done but that's the main stuff.

At the min I'm just sorting a few bits to make it as reliable as I can as it's going to get a hard life on track.

It's had a fair bit spent on it to be honest but even a standard 5 with a lsd and uprated suspension is a great track car to begin with. Just needs a bit more power! smile

That does look great! (Not 100% sure the boot spolier suits a drop head, but with a hard top it'd look ace).

Thx for the positive remarks guys!

Yeah kinda agree about the spoiler. Roof up it actually looks good... roof down I'm not sure. Will prob leave it on till my first track day and see if it's actually doing anything. If it is then I'll leave it.

If not then I'll replace it with a nice discreet little black boot lip spoiler (one that runs along the edge of the boot). Never been one for big spoilers! wink

Very nice thumbup

Is it the one that was for sale on here?

If it is, I thought it was making about 300 BHP?

This one in fact...

It is indeed! smile

It's making about 300bhp with the nitrous. But not interested in running it with that setup so it's down to around 250bhp @9psi and about 270bhp @ 13psi.

I didn't realise it had Nitrous.

But, as you say, it shouldn't really need it biggrin

Mine has about 240 BHP, and I find that sufficient eek

240? Sounds tasty! Be interested to see your car if you have any pics?

That looks like a horrendous amount of fun.

Not sure on the spoiler but saying that i think its already growing on me, any ideas on what sort of performance figures you are expecting?

Right, first, a small disclaimer - I'm not aiming to flame =)

Personally, I'm not keen on the looks - too "max power" for me, and I doubt from the ride height that it would handle well on the road..

BUT

You have a really, really nice drive - I've not seen slabs like that load bearing before, well impressed =)

Really like the look of your car... would be interested in having a chat with you about 'stuff' smile How did it fare against the TVR's?

Cars recording around 4.5 secs 0-60. Previous owner recorded 153mph top speed on track. Certainly feels like it can achieve it... will do some of my own tests when I take in on track tho.

Yeah it is a bit Max Power lol. Not normally my thing as my other 5 is a real sleeper. I've just fallen in love with it tho. Plus with it's performance I can just about get away with that spoiler. Just. wink

On the right bit of road... ie smoother than a babys bum it handles sensationaly well. It really does. Prob is when it does hit a bump you know about it and I find myself watching every little bit of the road ahead for any nasty bumps or dips etc which kinda takes the fun out of it. Will be raising it half an inch or so this weekend so will hopefully find a good road setting!
