I thought i'd share with you some pictures of my Astra. I know its Hardly exotica but its a little different!
I bought it around 18 months ago as a blind impulse buy off ebay for £250. Sporting a lovely 1.2ohv engine & 4 speed gearbox, 30,000 miles on the clock & 2 owners. It was quite scruffy & needed a bit of welding here & there, but i grew to like it, even the colour!
To cut a long story short i went a bit overboard with my spending & basicaly had it restored & re painted in its original reed green. I then built it back up with lots of new parts & a few upgrades like disc brakes all round, uprated suspension etc. & not forgetting the 2.0 16v turbo Calibra engine smile
It is running practicaly standard power, de cat & with a few bolt on upgrades so should be somewhere around 205 to 220 bhp & weighs in at a smidge under 900kgs so is an absolute hoot to drive.

Here she is, comments welcome!

This was taken at the Midlands breakfast club as i left....

No bling or blue pipes, i wanted the conversion to look almost factory...

& one shortly after buying it...

Stunning, absolutely loving that. The lines and shape look so clean and sharp. Liking the colour too.

What a transformation from when you bought it. clap

I like it! Do you mind if I ask how much it cost to build it to that look?

Thanks for the coments. Skylinecrazy, Yes, im from Staffordshire.

In total the car has cost me about 6k now. The bodywork & paint was a large chunk at £1700.I thought it was very reasonable considering it had new inner wings, sills, & an arch made up amongst other things. The engine, loom & ecu was another 1k. Its amazing how much the other bits & pieces add up!

I love driving it & consider it money well spent smile

Fcensoreding love that!

That's the kind of colour that modern manufacturers are missing too. Don't see many that shade any more.

How often do you track it (assuming from the cage that you do)?

really very nice fella.... love the mods, shows what a well balanced approach can do. Those engines pull like a god damn train too.

It was featured in retro cars yes, shortly after getting it on the road.

Fruitcake, i have never taken the Astra on track. The cage is just somthing i have always fancied in a car! Also the rear is completely stripped otherwise so it would look bare without it. At the moment the door bars are missing but im thinking about making a pair.

I would love to do a track day in it though. I have done track days in a couple of my old cars & it was the best fun ive had in a car.

I wouldn't have looked twice at an astra when young, they were ten a penny, but that looks really good. It's funny how I am getting all nostalgic....
Congrats on a very smart motor!

Agreed with everyone above, not the kind of car I'd have ever have thought I'd like but it looks absolutely great. Really nice and subtle and I quite like the bogey/puke green colour as I can't imagine any new car looking that good in that colour smile

The only thing I dont like is the black rear lights. Proper ones (or simple red/clear) would really set it off.

Great stuff.

I have considered putting the standard rear lamps & front indicators back on, but am i right in thinking red & green should never be seen? or have i got my colours mixed up? smile

I think as they are it all looks fitting. Although the originals might make it look a little more its age.
