My Mini (first car)
Discussion
Hello thought I would start a thread of the lovely little mini I have just purchased complete with a fresh MOT It is a stage 1 Austin Mini 1000cc with a whole lot of extras nice sound system, alloys, leather buckets seats and back seat to match, quick shift, up rated suspension and it has been re sprayed in Lamborghini orange. Personally I think it looks fab and amazingly for a mini had it checked over by a number of people and has no rust at all Plans are to give the engine a bit of a tune-up and tidy up and fit a performance head, replace the headlining out and fit some soundproofing for now. Sorry for the naff pictures they were taken from the advert will get some better ones when it is picked up on Monday
That sounds good especially compaired to some of the stupid quotes ive had. This makes it even more tempting to buy a mini. I have also had some autograssing experience in a mini as i took part in for a couple of years so i know what to look for.
How much did you pay for the car itself as i have been looking at some around the 1-1.5k.

Nice mini Greg!
My first three cars were minis, and the only reason I don't have one now is because I want RWD!
You'll love it, and it'll teach you to drive properly - heel and toe is an absolute joy, and there is a reason why people rave about the handling, they are huge fun.
Take it easy and get used to driving it, it'll be different from any thing you've driven before (Unless you've driven loads of old cars before ) and be prepared to get greasy fingers, but it's all part of the fun!

I paid 1700 and this is a rust free example with 12months MOT with in my view some nice extras however I think I just got quite lucky to be honest as I have seen similar cars up for 2500+ would say for 1500 you should get a alright example but I just got very very lucky with this one would say with a few bits to finish it off should be worth 2500 looking at other cars. And thanks everyone for the views will be a good car to learn how to drive properly and also how to fix them. Also as a added bonus dad's mate has done so many up and should be able to do some work on the head for me and teach me how to do it as well and can act as a guide if I get help at any point also my mate said he should be able to get hold of some twin carbs for me as well so is looking good. Most importantly however the haynes manual is on order going to make sure I read it a fair few times lol so get a real feel of how the car is put together. Good choice mate, expect to turn a lot more heads than any of your mates in their corsa's.
My mini is insured with footman james, I'd recommend giving them a call, it worth ringing quite a few places as even the newest minis are nearly 10 years old now so they qualify for classic insurance, if you get hold of a copy of mini world/ mini mag there's loads of insurers in the back.

Very nice, very very nice
My first car was a T reg 850 mini with a 25th aniversary mini interior, cost me £500 loved it to bits, fitted the offcuts of my mum and dads carpet in as 'posh carpet', took it on a world record attempt, then a bmx track then it died.
Ah well, it was fun while I had it and I'm sure your will be too.

Yeah well how much would it cost to convert the disks on the front? And how hard is it to fit? I don’t really have a clue to be honest would imagine it a very big job and its the high labour costs it would be to fit them is what is leading me to save up lol.
It's not a massive job mate but if you don't know what you're doing then its best left to the pro's. It's the breaks after all.
