BMW E36 EVO M3 LeMans ready
Discussion
Not everyones cup of tea but I love these old M3's, pound for pound these BMW's are a bargain just as long as nothing major goes wrong ( fingers crossed ). Bought this one about 8 months ago from a guy on PistonHeads its the SMG version and wasn't my 1st choice but once I saw the car I had to have it, inside and out its like new and totally standard as it came out the factory. Since I've had it the SMG has really grown on me and much prefer it over the manuals.
I've just spent the last few hours getting the car ready for my annual trip to LeMans for the 24hr race hence the stickers ( not permanent and will be removed once back but may keep them on another week for the F1 at Silverstone )

My understanding of the law about these plates is just as long as you don't get pulled more than 3 times then the worst you can expect is a fine but any more than that and you run the risk of the car be confiscated so 2 pulls and the plates come off. Got pulled last year in my RenualtSport Megane just after I got back from LeMans running black plates and they just told me off but it may have also been something to do with the stickers I had on the car that attracted their attention. ( I may have this all wrong though )
From memoiry its cars registered before 01.01.1973 or something like that, its a 72 to 73 crossover when the law changed to having yellow and white plates.
There's no '3 strikes and you're out' before being given a ticket. Its up to whoever stops you if they give you either a £30 FPN or have a bit of a word in your ear about getting them changed over.
Car looks good though (but I'd stick with legal plates).
