I'm looking for a fabricator who can make me a Golf GTI fuel tank in stainless steel. Anyone know of one?

Why stainless rather than the usual competition material of aluminium?

It's not a race car & what I want is a direct replacement for the stock tank. Why stainless? - the tank's slung underneath just ahead of the rear beam & gets a lot of punishment. If you know someone who'll make up one in ally then let me know & maybe they can knock one up in stainless for me.

If it's a normal road car why not just replace it with another steel OEM one? If it's for the Golf the last one has lasted nearly 20 years.

If you must then there are lots of folks making alluminium tanks, try a search, don't know of any off hand.

I guess I'm getting too up myself about this car! As various bits come off they're being replaced with stainless or titanium where appropriate....
Thanks anyway.
