Poor Car.. Someone braked very hard last night, I braked very hard and stopped before hitting her.. Seeing as the C2 has very good brakes.. The woman behind me used mine too..

I'm guessing somebody wasn't looking when they pulled out of the junction ?

Correct.. The old lady just pulled out into us whilst we were doing about 30mph..

Cue Audi stopping, me stopping and the Honda behind me not stopping.

Old lady still sat there just looking at us.. And its nothing to do with her because she didn't get hit.. Even though it was her fault!

I hate that feeling when you're on the brakes in an emergency like that and your thinking, st I hope I get stoppped, all the while looking in the mirror saying I hope they stop too. Sorry about your car, but hey if the old lady wasn't speeding she must be safe right. Its because of crap like this that I've started staying really far back from the car in front, unfortunatey there isn't a lot you can do about someone driving up your chuff.

Nearly happened to me on the M8, emergency stop occured on outside lane in front of me, I had to really throw the anchor out to get stopped and that was with a good distance, all cars now stood still. I looked in my mirror and saw a young couple laughing and joking approaching very rapidly in a Peugeot 106...
He then notices, que lots of smoke appearing from his front tyres, I decided to dive into the gap between the central reservation and the car in front - The Pug stopped inches from the car next to me's bumper, bloody scary I can assure you!

What makes it worse is its two lanes from the lights, which go into one just at the petrol station entrance.. So thats why everyones bunched up, theres no way you can leave a big enough gap there because your filtering.

If that makes sence..

Audi was in the left lane and me in the right and obviously we filtered in with each other.

I was looking in the rear view and just saw her coming at me pretty sharpish and then bash frown

I just drove home now to get my keys and it sounds silly but its actually quite scary with people behind you now because its like your not sure if their going to stop or not.

Honda's fault.

Saab was the cause.

Yep, I agree!

I'm waiting for the Audi to claim from me, shes obviously not bothered who pays for it but it was mine that went into her.

The laws of physics are there too.. Theres a gap behind my car, so there must have been a gap infront of my car between me and the Audi or else if I was in the back of the Audi, the Audi would have moved forwards and the Honda in my boot even worse rather than my car taking some of the shunt forwards with it.

Thats the way I hope they look at it rather than just saying its my fault.

Ah.. Thats the way I think its going to go for me, i'm young and only been driving 8 months so they'll look at it thinking it was my fault.

Though I had stopped before the Audi and the Honda drove me into the Audi frown

Technically Honda fault, but you need to make sure you get good witness statements. (ie from the nice yellow Audi in front)

The Honda driver will eventually blame you for the accident by claiming you hit the car in front and then reversed into her.

Moving forward, if you keep a bigger gap in these situations you can control the car behind as well!

On a similar note, its my number 1 pet hate in driving when I leave plenty of room for 'saftey' on a motor way, and some tt under takes me and jumps in. meaning i have to brake to open up another gap.

The number of times ive seen a row of cars riding at 85mph in the outside lane, running closer than you would want to when paralell parking next to them. Unbelivable.

I know its not that relevant for this thread as you were filtering on an A road... but i needed to vent

Hondas fault by the way IMHO

Additional, you might want to make sure you get your story straight on whether or not you had your handbrake on!

It will come up somewhere, the same thing happened to my wife and she said she had her handbrake on...

You could argue you only just had stopped and then you were hit, hence no time to apply handbrake. Or if you were stationary a while then handbrake on plea.

Technically you should always put the handbrake on, but obviously not many people do. Dont think it would affect the case much, but they might be able to argue (rather feebly) that you woldnt have been pushed into the car in front if you had it on...

PS Are you claiming for personal injury. That whiplash, must be killing.

I didn't have it on..

It all happened so quick, as soon as me and the yellow car had stopped I looked in the rear view mirror and then flying forward and hearing glass smash (Her lights).

I did turn the engine off from running though when I got out the car as it seemed the natural thing to do.

Handbrake wouldn't have helped, I had my foot on the brakes..

p.s My wiplash is fine thankyou.. I've got a headache i've had since it happened yesterday but no neck pain and i'm not going to fake a claim, i'm just being honest with everything.

You should go straight to Dr Nick Riveria and get signed up for a full body cast and practice saying ow a lot.

No joke, but whiplash can appear days after the event.

PS I would also be careful what details you post on this forum especially in light of full number plate views of the cars involved!

I hope you got the SAAB's details as she may well be held to blame , if someone crashes due to having to take avoiding action then there can still be a claim , an actual impact doesnt need to take place

But the main cause if driving too close

Ah, that's a bummer Jonny, but hey, at least that scuff on the rear bumper will get sorted for you! Every cloud an' all. Have you got a courtesy car? I drove up the road you park on this morning to see if the C2 was there, have a peek, carried on to turn left and join Upper Mannor Road when a lady in a silver Citroen ZX comes out of Upper Mannor Road and carries on on my side of the road, I stop and she still coems, her passenger shouts, and the driver swerves violently on to the other side narrowly missing me, I'm just sitting there wide-eyed!
