Saab 93 Aero HOT Convertible......
Discussion
Hi all.....
Picked up a 2001 Saab convertible the other week, normally these don't do anything for me, however I have always had a thing for the 'Aero HOT' models, and had fond memories of a couple of 9000CDE Carlssons that I owned waaayyyyy back in the day.
Plan to do a couple of things to her....Currently have an R-spec polished recirculating DV, a Pipercross foam panel filter and a twin tailpipe Abbott Racing exhaust in transit to me, and the wheels are going to be refurbed in the most sparkly silver I can find, the walnut dash will be painted in the body colour and I am trying to source some lowering springs suitable for the Convertible Aero HOT.
In the meantime I thought I would take some pics (went for an 'Urban' look but only had a fairly basic 8.5 megapixel camera to play with...... Anyways, hope you guys like.

Looks a really nice example. Is the scuttle shake as bad as people make out, or just an old myth?
Viggen Rescue Kits from Abbott Racing are supposed to make a world of differencehttp://www.abbottracing.com/product/9-3%20Chassis/...
Thanks for the comments guys..... TBH the scuttle shake is quite bad, or perhaps I should say was quite bad, it's not that it has got better, just that I have become used to it very quickly, which is more than I can say for the lofty driving position...loll.
There are a number of things that can be done to rectify the scuttle/chassis however, if I was to change how I intend to use the car that warranted those changes, I would just sell her and buy an e36 Convertible (2.8 sport or 3.0 M3) as I feel just out of principle, why should I spend a shed load of money just to get the car to the point where Saabs' engineers should have had it in the first place......
At the moment though, I am happy, it cruises along nicely, is great on the a-roads and the better b-roads and I never plan to take it on a track or anything like that.

I had a 2001 Aero HOT Coupe at the start of last year.
Was a comfy old thing, but how a car company seen fit to release a car with such poor traction/torque steer problems is beyond me.
Second gear when coming on boost through third gear rolling burn outs were a laugh for the first couple of days, taking up both lanes trying to keep the old barge in a straight line on the A43 slip road when joining the M40 at night with the traction control ON was less so.
Fairly spectactular between 70-120 on the motorway.
I also seem to call that high speed stability wasn't exactly brilliant, decidely wooly over 130ish.........
I only paid a grand though, quickly sold it on for 1900.
