16v corrado 1990 track toy.
Discussion
Bought this a few months ago down in england, had a fair but done to it but was nowhere near the standard of preparation i want so it soon became a projec. have just finished rebuilding it, and am just going about slowly developing it.
spec
1.8 16v on zx9r nike cabs
fliter king reg
four branch
stainless magnex system (crap back box being removed for a straight through pipe)
adjustably crappy coilovers (actually seem to perform really well on the track)
bigger 280mm discs from a g60 with mintex 1155 pads
braided houses
poly bushes all round
manual steering conversion (heavy but really positive)
uprated engine mounts
compomotive `MO's with yoko a048r's
recaro speeds for day to day with a carbon corbeau for the track.
momo steering wheel
completely stripped of all trim and uneeded electrics (cl, ew, etc)
rear strut brace
future plans
2.0l bottom end
twin 40's
shrick cams
cage
more lightening
polycarb windows.
may not to be everyones taste but so far has performed fantastic on the track compared to expectations. plans are not for all out power (be happy nearer the 200bhp mark) but more for a car thats quick round knockhills twisty bits!
enjoy......
cheers for looking.

It's my old car (I'm the guy you bought it off).
Nice to see it again. Shame you didn't feel you could have been more complimentary about it. Everything I did was on a super budget which I never covered up and you paid very little for it.
But whatever... Hope it's running well and being used for what it was originally meant for.

I bought the car from a guy near Luton off here. After I bought it it failed an mot on loads of things. Although it was built on a budget, money could have been put toward more crucial elements of the car rather than devoping the aestheic side of things such as sorting the head gasket or throttle linkage (both cheap fixes). Considering the hours I have put into developing the car to it's current stage, and how much a 16v corrado generally sells at, I don't think I got the car particulary cheap. However I am extremly pleased with the car and don't regret buying this example.

It's a shame that it failed on a few things but remember it is 19 years old now. It's pretty niaive thinking it'll still go through MOT's without any failed parts. It's not pristine and when I owned it the plan was to run it as a cheap track hack and not a concourse car.I never actually finished putting it together and never even got to do a shakedown session so when I sold it, it was sold as such. Obviously all the little bits and pieces would have been sorted had I'd kept it longer. The engine spec you quote is much the same as the one I was working to. I'd have run the bike carbs with it possibly but that's personal preference.
I certainly never had issues with the HG, the car always showed good compression and I never once saw any mayo etc. That must have become apparant after I sold it.
The main thing is that the car isn't on the scrap heap and is being used for what I'd hoped it would have been.
it may be nineteen years old but it was sold to me on a different pretence. however dont want to get into a slagging match as it was not the intention of the thread. instead i am starting a thread showing how pleased with the car i am and hopefully to keep me inspired for further development!

Well I guess that's between you and the chap you bought it off, not me. Good luck with your future plans.
as much as i love this car i have spotted something i want more which is a fair bit more cash. so unfortunately she is up for sale. its gutting as its the first car i have been involved in rebuilding which has made the results even more pleasing. ill be happy however if the car goes to someone who will use it and look after it properly as i will be very sad to see the back of it.
time for some much needed updates!!
the car i was going to buy fell throuh and decided to keep this and keep using it and developing it on the track.
so far i have manage to fit a set of webers and malpassi regulator, which have made one hell of a difference compared to the bike carbs, much more tune-able and much more suited to the engine, oh and they sound cracking! Recently as-well i managed to pick up a set of schrick 276 cams which have livened this up no end, its now really revvy and a much better engine to use all round. im still to get a head to pot and polish while this one is in use so there is still a lot to come from this engine even on a budget.
Interior wise ive manage to get hold of a better pair of seats and some new 6 point luke harnesses along with a lap timer and tansponder. still looking to go to a suede steering wheel as the leather one is just to slippy in the moment!.
sorry i haven't been more detailed in the build up pictures or updates but im too busy playing or driving to keep taking photos!
