This car has a bit of a chequered history, but I've spent some time working on it over the winter since buying it last September, and am pleased to say it passed it's MOT today, so the summer is going to be fun.

It's running a 1.8 Raceline Zetec on Throttle bodies, four pot brakes up front, and weighs in around the 600kg mark. Needs a new set of sticky tyres, but all in good time.

They only ever had that wee website with a few pics IIRC, absolutely love these kits.

Looks, use-ability, nice weight, can fit the V8, absolutely bob-on.

Good choice sir biggrin

Thanks for your comments. It's a great little car, but needs some care and attention.

Some info on here http://www.clubstylus.be/forum - Belgian hosted website but mainly UK owners on the forum. AFAIK, Stylus Sports Cars isn't being actively traded at present. The owner (Tim Benbow I think his name) has other businesses which take up his time, but word has it that he has is building a new Stylus to race next season. Maybe if that generates some interest the marque could re-emerge?

If I can just keep this one alive I'll be happy

Edited to add: No not me near Kirkby Lonsdale. I'm in the Cotswolds

So what's needing doing to it then?

Pics of the rebuild (?) would be grand.

There's a few pics on here, not up to date.

What the picture doesn't show is that the body work has got quite a few star cracks in it, and I've had to fill a hole in the back where it previously had a rear exit exhaust. I'm going to run it this summer and then probably prepare the bodywork and get it sprayed over the winter. Today I've started cutted some new windows from polycarbonate as the old ones are scratched, and have fitted a new steering wheel as the original was only 270mm and horrible to drive with.

My next job will be a cold air feed to the engine which is currently drawing air from under the bonnet, and making a lot of noise in doing so.

Cheers for your interest

Am pretty sure i recognise this picture from the Stylus website?

How does the car actually handle, what's the quality of the overall kit like? Caterfield or Bobin Hood?

I can't see the picture you've linked, but if it's the one with the owner on the Stylus Website as Miles Youdan, then yes that's the same car.

Handling wise it's early days, as I've had it off the road over the winter and only did about 30 miles last year before the exhaust fell apart rolleyes Early impressions are that it doesn't over or understeer especially, and that the suspension is possibly set up fine for track use, but a little too firm for road use. The chassis is basically the same as a Fisher Fury so should do the job, although mine has a De Dion set up rather than live axle. I find it quite different from the Tiger Cat I had previously in that in a normal seven you get visual feedback from the front suspension and wheels whereas in this it feels a little more detached.

By the way, nice MR2 on your profile

Ah sorry, it hasn't linked for some reason. It's the pic of it on the drive next to the wooden fence.

God knows how many times i'd looked through the Stylus website gallery. Used to have photoshopped pictures of some of them and a whole section dedicated to them on my old web-page, was set on building one as soon as i had a garage to build it in. Still not got there.

Cheers for the comment on the '2. It still needs a bit of work to get it to the spec i want, namely the SC or throttle bodies and some drivetrain extras. Then again, might sell it and build a Mk3 V8. Decision time will come this winter.

Is there many Stylus' about here? I've only seen a couple come up for sale on ebay. All been 4 pots though. I don't think anything under 3.0 would last too long in the bay if i got one though redface)
