MG TF 160 80th Anniversary Edition
Discussion
Well here she is, the latest addition to the Bartop stable and latest in the line of MLC fuelled cars. No laughing please !
Luckily the Sun popped it's head out for a few minutes today enough for me to give the new car a quick wipe over and take a few pics to show you
For those of you not in the know it's an 04 MG TF 160 80th Anniversary Special Edition. It's the Heritage version in Goodwood Green with Tan Leather and Alcantara seats and Tan and Wood interior.
Am really pleased with this one, was worth the wait - 3 previous owners, FSH with 5k genuine miles and no sign of the dreaded HGF (yet)
Went for a drive topless this morning and whilst it's not the fastest car in the world or probably the best handling for £6.5k it's fantastic fun !
Hope you like the pics..
Pete

I remember selling a few of those before things went a little pear for MG. Seem to remember they went ok and those Ap's are pretty good. Seem to remember the 160's and 135's being better than the MX5 and Barchetta at the time.
I don't remember as many VVC's with head gasket probs as the normal 1.8's

ooh, harsh ! They're AP racing 4 pots as come as standard on TF 160's but thanks for the comment
They are also a pain in the arris if you want to carry a spare rather than tyreweld. I bought a spare as the car originally came with tyreweld and was warned to check the spare would clear the AP's on the front - low and behold it doesn't. It fits on the rear ok, so if I have a front puncture I will have to swap the spare onto the rear, and the rear onto the front (assuming it can handle the wider rear tyre?? any idea?) or else it means using tyreweld. Have used it in the past in my TVRs and not very keen on tyreweld. If its a proper tear in the tyre it doesn't work, and if the tyre only has a small nail etc, by using the tyreweld it wrecks it and cant be repaired so you waste an otherwise good tyre. hence I'd rather avoid using it if I can.I understand the VVC 1.8 is actually quite tough, a mate had a 218 coupe an that took plenty of punishment and was surprisingly pokey.
The thing that strikes me as odd is 3 owners in 5k - assuming maybe 1 dealership + 1 private owner before you. Perhaps its been off the road having the head gasket done hehe.
enjoy the good weather whilst it lasts!!!!
