It looks very nice indeed!
What tuning have you done to extract +40bhp?
I have an induction kit and exhaust manifolds, but have mainly concentrated on weight loss (carbon seats) and handling (titanium, adjustable dampers, M030 ARBs, R888 tyres, rebuilt brakes, LSD, short shift, carbon strut braces).
I may look at a re-map and some back boxes but I think +20bhp would be an excellent result, so I would be interested to know if you felt you could find a bit more... I think Autofarm only quote +20bhp on their 3.7 engine using standard 3.4 heads and cams... That is maybe wheere my money will go next year.

Its practically as quick as a GT3, so why not have the badge? And if you know your cars, you'll be able to tell that its not a GT3. I can think of a few features that show this...
Performance mods consist of:
-K&N performance induction system
-Paramount Custom Remap
-Free-Flow Manifolds
The remap was created to work with the filter and the manifolds accordingly, hence the good power increase. I am looking to get it De-Catted in the near future.

Forgive my scepticism... But +40bhp feels like an awful lot from a pair of manifolds, induction kit and a remap... do you have before and after R&R graphs? Sorry if this sounds like it is having a go, it isn't I would just like to know that the re-map is worthwhile before committing serious money to it!Performance mods consist of:

Equally, have to be honest and agree with the others about the GT3 badge... My car has less power than a GT3 but less weight and better suspension... So shouldn't be too far off on lap times, if anything at all... But it is badged as a Carrera!
Why have a full GT3 body, GT3 wheels and lowering springs, then have a Carrera badge on the back? Doesn't make any sense.
Yes the package I have IS worth it. The car takes some time to adapt to the map, but now mines had a few hundred miles since the upgrade and it DEFINATELY feels alot quicker.

Err... because it is a Carrera?Yes the package I have IS worth it. The car takes some time to adapt to the map, but now mines had a few hundred miles since the upgrade and it DEFINATELY feels alot quicker.
No different than sticking 'M' badges to a normal BM,
or Cossie badges to a chaved ford,
or 16v badges on an 8v shopping trolly,
or GTI badges on a 5 door burgundy golf.
Proof that money can't buy taste IMHO.
what i cant understand is how the remap took time to bed in, surely the 40HP increase would have been shown in the dyno runs during mapping?
40HP on breathing mods is a massive amount of power, you wouldnt expect that from a port and polish.

That last comment wasn't directed at you Dave, sorry if it came across like that.
The 40bhp was gained through free-flow manifolds, K&N 57i induction (proved to get +23bhp alone) and the Paramount custom remap, as explained above. The dyno showed 243bhp (before mods) and 276bhp (after mods)... A 33bhp increase. They told me that the car needed time to adapt and after having driven a few hundred miles the increase would be about 40bhp, if not more.
Funnily enough, the car has got faster from the time I left the garage to present.

Honestly 33HP sounds more realistic anyway, 40HP is very optimistic for what has been done no matter what changes have been made. Whats next anyway??
I say you go for a wheel change, something wider and dished at the back

Never mentioned the badge,
could care less about it, I want to know how the 40 HP was made and the results?
I imagine in much the same way that folding the rear seats down makes a car faster.could care less about it, I want to know how the 40 HP was made and the results?
And to the OP, sorry if my first post was a bit arsey. With a nice car like that you've got no need to pretend it's some thing it's not. Lose the badge.
