I knew a fella who had one of these some years ago - cracking car. Although he drove everywhere at 120mph so I imagine his probably died a death.

Yours looks fantastic - great effort. Is that the 286bhp engine from the M635CSI and the M1?

Cheers for the nice replies!

It is the 218bhp M30 engined one, I would love a proper E28 M5 but they are pretty thin on the ground and when they do come up for sale they tend to be very expensive (or rotten).

The old girl hadn't actually turned a wheel in ten months until last week, I put the battery back on and she fired up first time (no blue smoke, no rattles!) so I decided to drop her in for an MOT just to see what would happen and she passed first time with no advisories!

She was first registered on 1st August 1985 and I am the second owner, she has a huge stack of reciepts and has covered 155,000 miles. She does need a new bonnet as the leading edge is bubbling and the air vents are rusty, when I get the bonnet fitted I am going to have the car fully resprayed. I plan to keep her totally original but I want her to look like new.
