Hey peeps, well this is my third Skyline now, and I feel that I've finally found the car I wanted to start with. Low mileage, later spec than the last (1996 Spec 2) and more importantly, the best condition R33 I have ever seen, with no a single scratch or ding on the entire car, no swirls in the paint, immaculate interior and an engine bay that looks like it's just rolled out of the factory. It's cleanliness is what sold me on the car as I wanted an ideal project base to start with this time, rather than battling with rust and other age-related issues whilst trying to improve the car through the usual modifications.

The plan for it is the get it to a safe and reliable stage 1 state of tune (between 320-320bhp) with the help of a turbo back 3" exhaust system, intake, front mount intercooler, modified ECU, boost controller, GTR fuel pump, splitfire coil packs and slightly colder plugs and at the same time get the handling set-up as sweet as possible.

When I bought the car the current spec was a near standard, with just a few essentials;

KYB Coilovers
Front & Rear Upper Strut Braces
Impul Blast "3 Catback Exhaust
GTR Side Skirts

Anyway, nuff with yapping, here's how she was when I picked her up...

First on the cards was the scrub the tyre paint off (great fun...not) and refurbish the original OEM wheels, whilst I save up for some decent ones.

Pretty mank...

Bit of "wheel silver" later...

Job done! Only took an hour to do all 4, so probably easier to refurb them than to clean them lol.

Next was to get her breathing a little easier, so the standard airbox was ditched (tbh I'd never seen a standard airbox on an R33 before!) and on went a new Blitz SUS LM air filter. While some argue the filteration of these is not up to the standard of the Apexi's, it's still usually the air filter of choice over in Japland. Anyway, it sounds awesome the standard recirc is actually more audible than the dump valve which was fitted to my last R33 with this thing.

Then it was time to replace the Impul Blast exhaust system with something a little less restrictive, and that will also enhance the lovely sound of the straight six, so it was time for a custom 3" straight through exhaust from the cat back, with an angled jap style slash cut 4" tailpipe...and it sounds lovely! Not too loud and droany off the throttle but really sings when you put your foot to the floor.

Yeah, my mate told me to take it off and I didn't see the point! Considering that little bit of plastic is the only way the stock airbox took in any air, it must be pushing at least a little bit of cold air over and around the air filter and hopefully keeping the temperature down a little smile
