Picked this up yesterday for a run around. Few little problems but other than that seems very solid.

Anyone know of any good GTI forums? As I want to get shot of the front arches and wing mirrors and put standard ones on

Looks very nice matey, what needs doing with it? I'm sure I will get one this year. Try ebay for selling the unwanted bits.

How much did you get it for?

Paid £1k for it, got a new front 1/4 panal, cam belt kit, sparkplugs and spare wheel arch. She has 100k miles on the clock and a good service history.

Things that need sorting is a leaking powersteering container (not sure if its the container or a hose), the rear exhaust bracket has snapped off and the passanger door dosnt open from the outside. Other than that its just little things like stiching the seats up a bit and putting a radio in etc.

Needs some front wipers too by the looks of it.

Sounds like a great buy is it 8 or 16 valves? My plan is to buy something a bit more tatty and do it up a bit as a summer project, just need to sort the garage out/rent some more space.

ahh took off all the wipers to sand them down and respray them as they were pretty rusty lol. She is the 8v version. I was going to get something quite tatty but then thought it would cost too much cash and I have the tuscan to run and a wedding to save for lol.

I know what you mean, but really fancy tinkering and hunting out some bargains. Although luckily I don't have a wedding to save for....just a 3 week old daughter to feed, clothe and nappy!

If you get fed up/want rid, gimme a shout as I'd probably be persuaded.
