Evenin' all, finally picked up my first proper car today.

Pretty excited about it, can't drive it 'till I'm 21 in a month, I think the wait may actually kill me.

It's an MR2 GT 16v and I absolutely love it.

The pics are from when I first went to see it so it's a bit dirty.

The plate was a lovely coincidence, the guy who owned it before was called Jamie as well, so now I have a plate that kind of says Jamie if you squint at it from a long way away with vaseline in your eyes!

Hope you like it
J

Haha, that's what I thought but you know, "don't look a gift horse" and all that.

wow, that sounds like a huge bargain!! very impressed. are there any areas that you need to check for rust etc?? how much luggage space do you get? 2 boot's or just the front?

The only real place to check for rust is the door sills, but it's fairly rare. You get a fairly reasonable boot at the back, you can get a good few bags in there. There's no boot at the front, just the spare wheel, so depending how brave you are you could have some more space up front.

very cool! certainly a match for the mx5 people rabbit on about on here all the time. Much nicer place to sit, and the engine sitting behind you certainly makes it feel a little special. It may sound chavvy, but get an induction kit, and a nice exhaust to give you a superb growl behind your head.

Hi mate, in the process of breaking one of these.

If you need any parts just let me know if I can help you out at all?

Hope your bottom end doesn't blow like mine! frown

Hey, snap biggrin

Nice to see another '2 owner here. Picked mine up 2 weeks ago, absolutely love it. A real driver's car and I grin like a fool every time I get behind the wheel. I think I got a true bargain as well, am seriously happy with this little car smile

Have you checked out mr2oc.co.uk? Lots of useful information and helpful members who have been answering all my silly questions.

Enjoy your lovely '2, black is the fastest colour too wink

Nice car I've been looking to buy one, GT Turbo, and turn it into something like this:

Or I could buy it like it already and save the hassle LOL

I'm female, I'm always right wink

You may have a point though, first pic looks black & the rest could be Goodwood... which is the third fastest colour tongue out

I like to call it British Racing Green, thereby making it the fastest.

Nice!

You will have to upgrade to a turbo eventually though! smile

Looks pretty tidy. Are your rear tyres the right size though, as they look a bit narrow to me? They're supposed to be 225/50/15s - make sure the previous owner hasn't saved cash by fitting narrower ones. Also, if you do change them at any point get decent ones. Toyo T1Rs offer the best grip but do wear fairly quickly - I decided to save some money and fit Nexens at the rear this time round, and my car is now lethal in the wet if you're not expecting it/taking the piss.

Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll have great fun. smile

Cheers,
Rob
