I bought this recently as a temporary run-around but if I’m honest I'm becoming quite attached to the old boat!!

I gave it a wash this morning so thought I’d share smile Comments appreciated!

Apologies for the quality of the pictures [from my phone]

Nice, love E30's. Had a sport for a while, think I'd be after a touring if I got another because they are generally less molested, and I think they rust less don't they?

Looks loverley, very clean and tidy. Black/anthracite wheels really suit it.

Could be right as this one was no real signs of corrosion that I can see ... even the scuttle is mint!!

I've always wanted to create an E30 Touring as a track toy.

Strip it completely, cage it, two bucket seats and an E36 M3 lump in the front.

Hmmmm, surely it wouldn't cost that much.... biggrin

I wouldn't know. Unfortunately whenever Mike Brewer comes on screen i either kick the s**t out of my telly, or spontaneously vomit everywhere.

Either way, not a good evening.

Love it!

I've got a real soft spot for the Tourer version of this 3 series, no idea why, the salon does nothing for me at all.

Lovely. E30 tourer is one of my ideal "all purpose cars" - brisk, low key, useful and characterful.

I'd like an S50 powered one too but to do it to a decent standard would cost rather a lot. Most that have taken the plunge reckon on £6-7k not including the car if you do all the work yourself. Probably more like £10k all-in to get someone else to do it for you (just the exhaust is about £2k of that and you'll need some serious suspension / brake and wheel /tyre upgrades plus lots of odds and sods).

I was thinking an M50 would sit lovely in the engine bay and I think they're a fantastic engine... but I've heard these are alot of work to put into an E30 also?

M50 conversion isn't too bad helped my friend do his last year,it all depends donor engine you get. The easiest is 525i (E34) the mounts seem line up really well.

Here's a picture of his when it was complete.

What a difference it made to his car, smoother more economical and considerably quicker (Replaced a wheezy old 2.0 M20) and with a bit of an incline it'll bounce off the limiter at 1.5 leptons in 5th
Thought really needs to go in to the gearing.

This website is very useful clicky here

That looks decent. I'd return it to stock, as was mine. They're just a hoot without any sort of embellishment, and there's really no need for a different engine. But then I would say that, being an old git. PHer cotty has a nice example and knows the ropes - do a search.

WOW! That looks fantastic! Great job, although what's with the chequered roof?
