I thought i would go have a gander down allen ford last night. Saw this little Beaut,
Test drove it this morning and paid my deposit. Picking it up Tuesday.
6000 miles
4.5k to chop in my 1.4 zetec, cant go wrong with that.
ETA: My went away last night and is back tonight, i wonder what she shall say!

Im having second thoughts about removing the stripes, ford say they will remove them for free of charge if i like.
But will it leave a mark?! Its 2 years old but only done 6000k, no idea where it has been kept during the rest of that time and what sort of light exposure its had.
I dont want to remove them and then had a faint outline of where they have been due to colour fading.
Another bonus, only an extra 180 quid for my insurance, not bad for a 20 year old plus going up 10 insurance groups.

Start saving for the Mountune ST185 kit...
Turns it into a proper little B-road weapon apparently...! Pops and crackles from the exhaust, far better pickup, the suspension is an improvement in ride and handling, and the sports seats set it off a treat.
Nice car fella. I'd have the over the top stripes off myself then if there is any fading of the paint get a proper detail done on it.
Look a load better with just the sill stripes imo.
Keep us posted in how it goes, i'd be interested to know what you get mpg wise.
I think Evo struggled to get 30 out of their long termer which is a shame as i'd consider one as a replacement for my mini if the fuel consumption wasn't too horrific.

How long after you bought the car did you have them removed? and what colour? Personally i cannot see white fading that much! I could understand red or black.Look a load better with just the sill stripes imo.

Im definately keeping the side stripes. I need to make the decision tomorrow morning. As im picking it up tomorrow night [suposidly]
Also if they were to leave a mark, approx how much would the detail cost to remove the marks?
Good choice! I swore I'd remove the stripes from mine but nearly a year on and they remain firmly in place. I've grown attached to them and can't seem to bring myself to take them off... maybe next week... always next week...
If you aren't sure you can always delay the decision and take them off yourself. It's not rocket science they are just bits of vinyl, a hairdryer will make short work of them. All Ford will do is give the job of removing them to the YTS monkey - better to do it yourself and take care over it!
MPG wise I average more like 35, perhaps evo did worse but when you are ragging the st out of a car that doesn't belong to you I'd imagine you care a lot less about economy or how you treat it. When it's your own car it's a different story.

As you say though, white should't be too bad.
