G'day.

Been a member for a few months now and got a bit bored, so thought i'd get round to making this thread.

The car:

Well, it's nothing special i'm sorry to dissapoint! But this being my first car, all I wanted was for it to be (fairly) cheap to insure, buy & run. No plans for it so far, exept for keeping it standard and keeping it for a good few years, save, save, save as they say!

1999 S reg, Toyota Starlet SR. 1.3 Petrol.

59k miles.
Brilliant history ( halfrauds bulb recipts & all! ).
Tax & MOT'd 'till Feb 2010.
2 owners from new, both in the same family.
Best of all, it's been seriously well looked after!, the only blemish is some oxydisation(sp?) on the rim of the wheel.

Anyway, enough babbling!

On the way home after picking it up..

(Appoliges for the yellow spots. Bad hand eye cordiantion hehe)

...on home soil.

Should of jacked it up for this shot:

The wheel I was talking about:

Not the prettiest of interior's but bloody clean!

Gave the cam cover a good clean...

Before:

During:

After:

Again, nothing special and it might not be to everyone's taste, but i'm more than happy with it! Also a few bits to replace, gearknob being one and the steering wheel (a tad big for my liking).

Any comments are more than welcome .

Thanks, Iwan.

Thanks .

Not too bad actually. Straight line speed seems to be ok, not bad but could be better. But in the twisty stuff, it's great fun! From what i'd read on Parker's, it supposedly had a lot of body roll, but after driving it for myself I can well say it hasn't! No idea why it would be different as it's completly standard.

Seems like reasonable first car. Just don't go putting a silly 5" jap style exhaust on it and loads of HKS stickers etc etc.. Seen plenty of decent jap stuff turned into something woeful.

Don't worry, I won't. Quite like it as it is!

The stuff I used is a non-acid cleaner. Not too sure on what it is exactly, apparently it's called "Shiny Side". All I know is that it's bloody strong!

A pic:

Apparently it's originally a pink colour, until you open the seal.

I've only had it for two weeks hehe.

In all seriousness(sp?) though, I don't think i'll sell up for at least 2 - 3 years. But there are some good example's out there, it's just trying to find them. Some are real sheds though.

Nippy in certain conditions; Cornering, yes. But being the non-turbo model, it shows in the straights. Great fun non-the less!

Hope you don't mind me asking, but how was the GT Turbo to drive?

was really nice to drive, so responsive and with coilovers handle amazingly well. I really regret selling mine. Will be looking for a new one soon hopefully. although I was looking at an SR myself to do a turbo conversion, especially as all parts are interchangeable from the turbo model.
