Hi all,

I've been thinking about buying a VX220 NA for a while, but the ones I've seen were tatty, and as much as I like the NA I really fancied a turbo.

So today I had a look at a turbo, took it for a drive and it didn't take long for my money to be put down.

Now I have to sort out the insurance (which is going to be painfully expensive, even with 10 years no claims) and try to sell my other two toys.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to wait the week before I pick it up.

I'm now going to have sell my other toys, which will be gutting, but I think it'll be worth it for the new one.

Westfield with 1.6 ferriday tuned CVH engine, 560kgs, around 150bhp. I have owned this car for 6 years and love it:

Track prep'd Peugeot 106 rallye. Standard 1.3 100bhp engine. These were around 820kgs as standard and this one has lost a bit of weight as well. It really is a quick little car and so, so much fun on twisty little roads. Untill driving a VX220 there was nothing with steering as sweet as this:

Great choice. Looks like a nice example. I got a VXT about a 6 weeks ago to replace my Clio V6. Can't get enough of it. Insurance is not actually bad on them.

Congratulations, it looks like you've found a mint example there.
Might there be 2 VXTs showing up for the April run now?

Prepare for the longest week of your life! smile

Nice are thumbup Seriously thinking about getting one of these, great little cars. I remember the insurance quotes being very reasonably, only being slighlty more than my 3 ltr Omega at the time !! You might be surprised.

Thanks guys, its got the usual stone chips, seat wear etc, but other than that it looks stunning. I love the colour as well.

Looking forward to getting it to the PH meets.

I got an insurance quote of £2200 off my current insurance company, but that is on my current policy which is a specialist in hot hatches, so they don't really want to know.

Other quotes have been around £1400 fully comp, which is a lot of money for me to spend on insurance. But then I know someone who has just passed their test and is paying £2000 TPFT on a Fiat Cinquecento sporting.

The thing is I'm only paying £250 a year on the Westfield, but then I'm not really getting much use out of it so I think its worth the extra money.

Shame to see the Westie go, I remember it looked very nice from behind whilst I could keep up smile What a car to replace it though, looks superb.

I don't know if they just do Loti, or if the VX is included, but I got a great deal on the Elise from this broker - www.hendersontaylor.co.uk Literally hundreds cheaper than anywhere else I tried.

Thanks Jaik,

The Westfield really is a great car, which is why I've owned it for so long. I have even thought about keeping it stored and tax it for a couple of months in the summer. But it would be a real shame for it to be sat around doing nothing for so long.

Hows your car going by the way?

Chris Knott insurance services crops up on a lot of specialist websites . I've used him on a couple of occasions. I had a VX N/A £430 F/C as a second car with no NCB to use as it is being used elsewhere

Very nice!

I was going to go down the VX220 route this year but due to a change of circumstances and now being a student again, I've gone for a cheap MX-5.

Hopefully there'll be VX's as mint as that one around when I can eventually afford one! Here's hoping we have a nice Summer this year so you can enjoy your new car!

Try using Elephant for Insurance. When I added my parents as named drivers it brought my premium down a fair bit.

It's running fine, not that I've been using it much, think I've only done about 5000 miles since the last service which was in May! I plan to get some fun miles racked up this summer.

WOW! You must be able to get much cheaper insurance than that dude. I am 24 with 3 yrs NCB insured with Admiral for about £700 F/C. Shop around they are not that bad to insure.
