Last Saturday I realised a 12 year dream and bought my first Lotus Elise - a 111R. I can honestly say it is the most amazing car I have ever driven.

Its probably just the quality of the photo, but those rear tyres look quite 'scrubbed' wink

I blame you for that, buddy! Done 600 miles in her already and enjoyed every single one. Enjoying the dry roads so I can find a bit more confidence and start to learn how to balance the weight comfortably. Stunning car.

glad your enjoy it...

though knowing how much tread was on those tyres, i can only summise they were a very enthusiastic 600 miles wink

Ian, I can't even describe my love for the car. I still go and check on it every night before bed and obsess over checking on it at regular intervals at work. Taken a few mates out and they've all loved it. Except my friend Clare who experienced the second cam thru 2nd, 3rd and into 4th and had to put her hands over her eyes and peak out like she was watching Doctor Who in the '70s! Still get that real sense of occassion whenever I go out for a drive.

Re tyres, I think it's the fact the photo's blurred, I've been very gentle. So far...;)

Yeah, I'd be up for that, once I've got a runabout. I'm worried about breaking the Elise and being left walking to work! I think the cars would be pretty even, so then it's up to the driver and I suspect you're a bit more committed than me! Sooze and I are talking about coming down to Castle Combe at some point anyway to watch some racing. I echo your comments re a good summer - I was driving like a granny when it was really wet!

Nah, i think the elise would have it round a track - i think the Z4 would only have the advantage passed 100mph, of which there arent many track opportunities..

But if your coming down to Castle Combe, you know your welcome to crash here..

I imagine the Elise could carry more speed through the corners - I'd love to feel the downforce working through some fast stuff. You could do some awesome sideways showboating though!

Thanks very much for the offer of a crash - we'll take you up on that for sure. Never been to Combe so I'd like to get involved.

Absolutely awful swifty just think for what you paid you could have had a much slower and duller eurobox I mean what kind of an idiot would buy an Elise over say an Golf or an A3 winkhehe. Im looking forward to when you take me for a spin. Btw swifty the EVO mags are under your desk.

What a lovely rear she has! Thanks for posting the picture, mate. Similar colour to your VXR, hey?

Yeah, quite similar. Mine is a bit darker, but lovely colours! That was taken on our South West Meet last year.
